I somewhat enjoy the forward feel, although some people may not really enjoy the detail. The difference isn't quite night and day if you don't have the cable, but is somewhat obvious when you listen side by side. After switching to the original cable it seems somewhat like I am listening through a thin veil, but still definitely enjoyable.
I had trouble finding other opinions on this when I got this cable. I am also interested in recabling dual entry into dual mono later...
Hi,
I've tried my K702 with silver and it made them a tad too bright and the bass seemed to decrease. Not good at all! ALO's SXC is a silver plated copper and sounded nice on them. Just the right balance between silver and copper. You get the detail of silver and the warmth of copper.
i believe Star Quad cables including W2534 are all copper cable rather than silver plated.
These cables however has very good shielding, and noise is really low - compare to the stock cable. For new recordings I hear absolutely nothing when the orchestra paused. Old recordings however...
Have you had experience with the Mogami W2534 cable, http://www.head-fi.org/t/378255/akg-k702-build-your-own-cable
I don't really think that picking up noise from the outside is a very big deal in terms of noise which is what the shielding in the lines are for. I think the bigger deal is your source and your amp.
My music runs through computer and I have 2 PC with cables running all around the floor. So I dont have much of a perfect environment
Also great advice on using the shield as ground. I almost used one of the core as ground initially. Then my friend stopped me and gave the same advice.
