Have you read an anime blog review of the season? Usually they give a decent synopsis of each of the shows. The fall season is loaded, in my opinion.

Amagami SS doesn't necessarily pick up. It's the same format, except for 6 different girls. Personally, I like the show.
 
Bakuman, if they continue with the source manga, won't be necessarily funny. It's a bit more slice of life. If your life happens to be a mangaka.
 
I like Otome Yokai Zakuro, esp. the main character Zakuro whose reactions to things crack me up.

Squid girl herself has good character design, but the show is mediocre at the moment

I'm watching Deathnote right now.  I've been enjoying it, but season 2 so far is nowhere near season 1 in terms of awesomeness.

While I'm not a big fan of gratuitous fan service, the Index universe is a nice place to visit, despite the popularity of it.

I quite like the show, so far because it's got some interesting and/or humorous comentary on the kind of NEET lifestyle. It's got some really bad jokes (eg. Imouto complaining about bad dialog then the brother saying "You look shocked" over the phone), parts of it is a giant plot hole (only a moron would have bought that entire discussion at the end of the latest episode) and some random things that make me "what" a little (I work hard as a model (LOL)). I hope they don't turn it into melodrama ala Toradora, and I hope they keep up with the moefag vs DEEP commentary. I wouldnt mind incest end if it was done tastefully, but I'm pretty sure it won't be if they do.
 
 
I prefer Kuragehime because the cast is far more interesting.
