Been using some $10 Sony earbuds for a while and I decided that I really want a step up. My price range is $100, I am going to be hooking them up to a 3rd gen iPod Nano, and hopefully a Cowon J3 + Pa2v2 in the future. I'd rather buy some IEMs, however headphones are fine too (if they are I don't want a long cord, I used to do this with a 7506 and it was damn annoying trying to fit all that wire in my pocket, and ending up with it all tangled when i tried taking it out. I'd also like some nice isolation since I am going to be using these in school, I don't want them to leak if i'm in the lobby or library.) If you need anymore information just ask, I am also not much of an audiophile so you might have to guide me through your terminology and such... ;_;

Not really sure what genre I should call my music. Somewhere in the Hardcore techno range, been told that it was either happy hardcore, UK hardcore or J-core before. Just in case I got the genres wrong, here are some songs:

Hi,

I have a 3rd gen iPod Nano too, and will test a pair of Yuin OK1 with them as soon as they arrive.

Have no clue what to expect but they and other buds from that brand seems to be well received here.

As I understand wikis iPod page the third Nano generation should be coupled with a high impedance speaker to sound its best, typical earbuds have low impedance and thus they are not a good match, yuins OK1 and PK1 have a really high impedance though.

^Alrighty then, just looked them up and they're a bit out of my price range. :x

Thanks for the info too, didn't know that. Do you think the Nano would be able to drive a 64 ohm IEM well or is that not high enough? I was thinking about getting the Re-0 (64 ohm) since they supposedly have really nice detail and clarity, wouldn't want to end up getting something that doesn't work well.

Trance and techno will usually sound better with a U shaped signature, that means an emphasis on bass and treble.

The first one that comes into mind is the Meleec M6, it's currently on sale (check the deals thread).

It's relatively inexpensive and I think it is a great introductory IEM, especially when you can EQ it to your liking.

Thanks for the suggestion, i'll go check 'em out. Are they still on sale for $18? Whenever I click on the link it just tells me that it's $31.
