Hi

I have been listening to my K702 for the last two weeks and i have owned the mighty K1000 in the past. The K702 at the moment is pretty well matched with the matrix m-stage. To my ears, the K702 amped by the matrix m-stage sounds strikingly similar to a poorly amped K1000. This led me to wonder whether the K702 needs powerful amping like its big brother. Hence i connected the K702 to a cheap HLLY t-amp and imediately the bass felt stronger and the treble quietened. The t-amp did produce a lot of noise but the entire signature of the K702 changed.

Hence, i just want to know if anyone has tried the K701/2 with speaker amps or more powerful amps and if you can share your experience. I feel the power needs for these headphones lie somewhere between normal headphones and K1000. Any chance someone  tried the K702 out of the SACK1000?

Hmmmm.. WEll I Only have a 701. and I plugged it into 3 different amps.  Mitsubishi 150watt RMS into the headphone jack. Very Upfront feeling. Then into my mixer, Very Open Soft feeling. Then into my sansui Reciver, about 30 years old. And It seems To be different. Like you describe it more POWER feeling.

Any reviews on SAC K1000+ K701? The SAC seems to be powerful amp and if my instincts are correct, they should be able to bring out the best of K701.

Is it advisable to connect the K701 in unbalanced mode to the terminals of a speaker amp?

I would not connect the K-701 directly to a speaker amp. They were not designed to handle that kind of power and you'll find the usable volume range pretty small.

I didn't find better amplification to much change my K-701. It never sounded like a K-1000 to me, no matter what I threw at it.

I still have the K-1000.
