I made a thread about this a long time ago but it only had like 2 responses. There aren't any reviews or impressions that I know of so if you got one that would be pretty cool. I don't think it would be better than the k601, 701 and maybe 501 though. I'm just taking guesses here so don't quote me just yet.

Cheap disposable headphones. White version of the K301XTRA.

What i'm saying is that it's not worth it.

AKG is a funny company. When they're good, they're real good. When they're not that good, they're real bad.

These are likely no better than something like a K44 or K101-M. Just prettier.

You'd be far better off with a K400 or K401, which cost about the same these days as a new K530. K271S is also a great headphone if you need closed, but only if you can amp it properly. With poor amping, the DT770-80 or A900 would probably be better.

I see them going for about 70 euros plus shipping. For that I bet you could get a German ebay seller to send you a pair of K400 or 401, shipping inclusive. Just ask in English first if they'll ship to you, then bid away. They're very well-made headphones, so if the photo of a pair looks alright, I'd bet they are in fine shape. What's that in pounds now? Under 50.

have any of you guys actually listened to a K530?

I have some and they are actually very good. they are the K271 driver with a bass resonator ported earpiece design. they have way excessive bass in the stock configuration.

If you tape up the holes they sound near identical to the K271, you can adjust the bass response by how completely you seal the bass ports.

they are not worth the £90 UK asking price (better just get a K271 with detachable cable, auto off switch and black styling) but if you look around you can get them for half that, in which case they are a steal.

they are made in china, but the build quality is fine.

Hi Tom Drinkwater!

I have the K530LTD (black), opened them and: put circular disx of foam in the earpiece, and below the foam a disc of cosmetic wad. Done that 3 times, until best sound was obtained from it. I experimented putting the wad disc under the driver, but the sounstage was thinner and sound sharper, so I decided it;s best to have foam under driver, to allow it to breathe, and dampen the bass resonator holes with wad disc. That way it sounds neutral and nicely balanced for me.

I use them in my work, and they are more than good for that use. I only have slight headaches when I leave them on my ears too long - more than 2 hours at a time. Not from their sound, but from the pad pressing on my jaws and under the ear place on my head.

I kinda doubt that they're the same driver as the K271.

Does anyone have high resolution pictures of the drivers from both the K530 and the K271?

AKG used the same diaphragm geometry for the k400, k500, and k401 but i assure you they are not remotely the same driver, and they don't look identical when you get all three of them side by side.
