I'm looking to buy a new (closed) headphone. The last 6 month's I've been using my Sennheiser HD555's. However I've decided that I would like to purchase a closed headphone for other situations.

The AKG's seem like a good choice for me, but I would like to know what people suggest between these 2 (feel free to suggest other headphones too, if you insist :p)

K272HD and K271 MKII are the same headphones except for a few details.
The K271 MKII has a detachable cable and comes with both velour and venyl pads.
Unelss you really like the looks on the K272HD or it is significantly cheaper then the other, I'd recommend the MKII.

I was leaning slightly towards the K271 MKII just because of the detachable cable alone

Just thought I'd try to get some opinions because I plan on using them for quite some time. Thanks for the input

Also.. A while back I was looking at the K271 Studio. Is there much improvement in the MKII? or are they basicly just the same (I should do more research myself I know

detachable cable is a big plus for me. One day I was vacum the floor, and my K217s cable got cought in the, ofcourse, it was goner. So I got this "sweetcome" ebay cable, which beat stock's proformance by a large margin!

I like the coiled cable of the mkII. when I use them with my ipod walking outside, it would mess me up like the 3m long straight cable did.

What about the AKG K271S vs K271 MKII. Is the MKII worth the extra money it would cost me? Because the specifications looked pretty much the same to me.

I have the K271s - and upgraded to velour pads - , they are amazing cans. Great isolation, accurate, and very confortable. If you´re not a basshead, and you like natural sound on closed cans, get the K271 MKII (they have already the velour pads), you won´t regret

Bass, soundstage & comfort can be increased by using taped DT770 velours pads.

What music do you listen too lweijs?

If you listen too Electronica and hip-hop and music with beat i would aim for another can. The bass is almost not present in some songs.

Only if the track is just "right" you will get a pretty deep and very puncy bass but if not: Gat damn were is the bass i heard earlier?

I dont have that problem with my dt150 and 225s.

So i would recommend dt150 if you NEED closed phones. They feel much more durable too. and they always play nice with everything i heard, the only thing the 271 have that the dt150 have not is the EXTREME good mids.

But overall between dt150 and 271 i would go for dt150 for closed.

With that said i will not buy more closed. Im happy now and have found out that open phones is in another league and much more easy to strap on. Very differen feeling

Do not take my words on it cause im not audiophile in any way but i do hear differences pretty easy
