I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I just ordered a Sharp DR7 MD recorder from audiocubes. It comes with an AC adapter, but it runs off 100 volts, not the 110-120 of the USA. It's rated at 5V/800 mA output. I went to RS, and they only have 4.5 volt adapters. Would this damage the unit in any way? I searched the net and found some info from Kenwood technical support that said items from Japan requiring 5V, but run on 4.5V, will only take a bit longer to charge the batteries, but it is safe to do so.
If anyone in USA had Sharp portables that required 5V, I'd love to hear what you are using.
This electrical stuff, to me, is all so damned confusing. I just don't want to damage my new toy. I'd rather stay away from voltage transformers as well. Thanks for any help.
