ive read a couple of threads regarding these cans. most of the reviews are positive but the roller coaster burn has always been a constant. is these something i should worry about. btw im currently enjoying the clarity and the detailed sound produced by my sa5000 so if you know a closed can that sound as good please dont hesitate to suggest it to me. i think the hfi780 can be had for 170usd while the 750 goes for 250 usd. the music ill be listening to will vary from jazz, rnb, rap, rock so ireally need a jack of all trades my budget is 300 usd. i most probably go unamped as well.

thanks guys

Ultrasone 900 PRO (Kees mod) sounds very fast.

I don't know how close or far the HFI-780 are from the SA5000, but they're very competent cans for rock, rap and RnB. Don't know about jazz.

Maybe Ultrasone 900 PRO with the Kees mod does this?

hmm.... tongue twister

Are you sure? I never heard the SA5000 but based on my impressions here, it seems to be a treble-oriented can and the dark DT150 will be pitch black in comparison.

I have both and use them 90% of my listening time. They are not the same, but no other cans come closer.

I'll like to know what part of the DT150 remotely resembles the SA5000, cause it has far more bass than the SA5000 and isn't bright like the SA5000. Something like the W5000 would be much closer to the SA5000. But then it is not portable, I really don't think there's a portable closed back that can be SA5000 like, most portable closed back are dark or semi-dark and lose to open backs in speed and soundstage, plus they have an emphasis on the bass. The ultrasones might be brighter than your usual closed backs but their bassy nature is definitely anti-SA5000. That's why the TC is better off just getting another ER4p.
