200-300 dollars

Without information on what kind of music you're listening and what source you're gonna plug the headphones into, I'd go on a blind here and suggest the Denon D2000. It has some of the best sound quality under $300 with the bass you will love.

Eh....no. The Shure SHR-840's are great headphones and quite neutral, but great bass isn't one their strong suite, at least to my ears. Their bass is controlled, but very shy.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250-Ohm (closed), needs to be used with a decent headphone amplifier. $180
Sennheiser HD-558, decent bass for an open headphone, works better with a decent headphone amplifier. $180

(have not used this model)
Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro 250-Ohm, semi-open, needs to be used with a decent headphone amplifier, $229
Total with amp. would put you over $300

I'd like to know where you heard that.

I've heard the Denon 2000's have zero bass.

So you may want to look elsewhere.

Probably here:

Seems to be hell-bent on perpetuating it too. I respectfully disagree with the claim though; the D2000 indeed have bass - lots and lots of it, to the extent of bordering on boomy. Probably a good suggestion for this thread though; they're not perfect but they walk a very narrow line very well.
