I own a asgard 2.. I'm looking for the warmer sound . What tube amp would u try. Under $500. Thx for your . Opinion.

Depends, what kind of headphones are you planning on using? Are you OK with hybrid designs?

he-400i..planar mag. plus hybrid would be fine. My asgard 2 is a little too clean. I think its referred to as a black background. Clinical.

I think your best bet would be a used Lyr or a new Lyr 2, coupled with a warm sounding tube. Check out this thread for help choosing a tube: http://www.head-fi.org/t/673709/schiit-lyr-tube-rollers
I had HE560 paired with the original Lyr and it works quite well, takes a little of the treble edge off of it. I imagine Lyr/2 + HE400i would be just as good.
