Either the leaf is activating twice when pushing the switch down (switches that may have come out of the factory near the edge or beyond tolerances) or it activates once on depression and once on the rising action.

Anyways there's no way to fix it without opening up the switch and unless you have very high dexterity, sanding or bending the spring by guessing isn't exactly the best method (that's if there's too much material; if there's too little you're out of luck unless you want to try your hand at bending the leaf/spring). I'd replace the switch if you have a soldering iron on hand.

If it's a PCB mount board you can just buy a spare switch and change out stems (or if you're using something like a Phantom plate).

It might the be leaf activating twice since it usually happens when I push down on the key. The weird thing is that the problem seems to come and go. Like right now, it's perfectly fine.

IIRC there hasn't been a single reported failure of Topre switches, just saying. =P

Hmm.........

Holy cow. That's crazy. Does Switzerland have really high import taxes or something?

Well the Swiss frank is a bit overvalued right now -- everything here is more expensive than it should be if you convert prices to other currencies. Other whiskies seem to be more expensive than in surrounding countries by like 30-40%, which I suppose is not too crazy. In any case I rarely buy hard liquor in Switzerland, but go to France instead since the border is literally at walking distance from my home.

Wow the border is that close to you? Do European countries have border patrol policies? At least in the USA, the surrounding countries (Canada and Mexico) have ridiculous lines to wait in just to cross the border.

Buy VA-11 Hall-A!
Not just you, everyone here should!
:frowning2:

I'll get it once it's on a Steam sale. I already have way too many games backlogged. :|

Don't need coffee if you're waking up in the afternoon. :p

I actually like drinking coffee in the evening. To me, coffee acts as a relaxant, so it makes me sleepy. XD

Does anyone here use macOS Sierra? I was thinking of upgrading just to get the latest OS, but there's no features of Sierra that I actually use.

Yeah, it's really close to me. And there is hardly any border control. Only on like the highways is there any border control, and they only stop very suspicious people or people that have been reported by the police of the other country or something like that. You can easily cross the border without even noticing it, especially on foot. Switzerland is not part of the EU, but it's at least part of Schengen so there is no border control any more. You're allowed to bring quite a lot of stuff across the border without breaking any laws, and even if you would then they would never check.

I upgraded because of a bluetooth bug.

Anyone know how to let Windows recognize an audio input as being "Headphones" and not "Speakers?"

On my laptop, the headphone jack and the speakers are linked together, so when one is plugged in, the other is disabled, even though they are both seen as the same device by Windows.

However, in Dolby Home Theatre, only the speaker virtualization dsp is used as it sees the audio device as speakers. The headphone virtualization slider does nothing. As a result, audio in games sound like crap. I'm wondering if any of you know of a registry hack on how to change this. On my main desktop, the headphone slider affects only the audio out of the front audio panel. The speakers slider only affects the rear line out port. Unlike in Realtek, there is no way of changing it in software so I need to change it in the system myself. I know this is possible because others have done it, but when I ask them, they all forgot the source that taught them how to do it.

We don't really do much manufacture now, but with stuff like ARM, Dyson, Rolls Royce and BAE our engineering design had improved significantly in terms of quality.

The country isn't big enough to be a leader in all categories of engineering anymore, but the areas we have specialised in we're pretty good at it...for now anyway.

Fair enough, I guess that's why you guys relied so much on colonies then huh? huehehuehue.

Didn't know ARM/Dyson were British but that's good to know! :xf_eek:

I'm my experience(limited), I never talked to a driver who carried a firearm but was told of some being fired for doing so. There are many barriers that include state laws and there reciprocity, company policy, and shipper/receiver policy. My company as with most I've read about, do not allow employees to carry weapons, be it in a company truck or there own. As far as I can remember, most of the locations I've gone to pick up/deliver a load have signs that prohibit such weapons.

Any of you gun peeps watch this guy?
https://youtu.be/gDCRop6CRwY

Yup. You can get some decent reciprocity, there's a permit you can get (I believe it's Utah) that lets you carry in like 30 states or something.

The biggest problem with that idea of banning people from carrying guns in their trucks is lack of enforcement. Like how do they check people on that.

And yup, I watch him sometimes but his videos are sorta long so I don't watch many of them.

First time going to a club, and a gay bar in one morning.

Don't plan to go to one again any time in the next decade or two, so I went full YOLO. I could have either spent money on something I don't know about and hope it tastes good, get wasted on cheap stuff, or indulge on something with high reputability while enjoying it sip by sip.

Apparently this is the barista's favorite drink too, so there's that. My wallet already seriously regrets it, but it was so good for when it lasted; this stuff is out of this world.

Oh goodness, I could have gotten you 750ml of that from Japan for like $200...

How was going to a gay bar though? XD

Tell me that was for a bottle, right?

Nope, for a 6 oz glass or so.

It sounds bad, but given my track record of declining to go to a club/bar, it's actually reasonable. $161 / $15 for an average cocktail at a club = 11 visits. I've probably been asked more than than that to go, so if I were to spend $15 on anything in those visits (snacks+drink and/or beverage), that would equate to what I spent today in 1 glass.

I know a bottle is more worth it, but
1) I live in a dorm and storing alcohol is hella sketchy and I don't want to get in trouble
2) I usually drink to taste and drinking a whole bottle seems like a crazy idea to me
3) 21 year is extremely rare; even in the Asian grocery store I worked at, it was a rarity (17 or 12 was usually what we get), and if we did get 21, it sold within a few days of stocking

Of the whiskeys I've tasted, this one was by far the best: smooth, delicate, woody, not bitter or strong. I actually didn't know the price of it when I got it since I left my tab open until I finished the drink.

That's one way to look at it.

Fair enough, you live in undergrad dorms right, so there's no alcohol allowed? Some of my friends at a uni here can actually have alcohol in their dorms, felt weird bringing a few bottles of liquor past the greeter nonetheless XD

From what I've heard, an open bottle could last you up to a year after you've opened it, so I'm pretty sure you could finish a single bottle in that amount of time, right? Lol

I know this is the AAMML thread and we have a thing for Japanese goods, but please please please don't overspend on Japanese whiskies, they have been getting extremely expensive as of late and I'm afraid the asking price today for Japanese whiskies does not correlate well to the quality of the product in the bottle.

This is a slight exaggeration but it's kind of like the Beats headphones of the whisky world....not that there's anything wrong with that, it is a very successful product after all.

Have you tried a Gin & Tonic? That's probably the only thing I'd order at a bar/restaurant/club because the markup on whisky is too high.

Hmmm and on that topic... Springbank 15 Green, an excellent whisky.

4.0 - Auchentoshan 11(indie), Glenfiddich 12, Glenlivet 12, Talisker Storm

Fair enough, it seems like Japanese whiskey has gotten much more expensive because of all the recent awards they've gotten. Good lord, all those numbers imply really expensive stuff to me though D:

How's it been for you though? The recent version of Sierra was released cuz it was destroying the battery life of current-gen MacBooks. XD

What's the impedance of your headphones?

Ah well. I don't intend to spend a lot on alcohol again anyway. I looked through the dorm rule book and I guess alcohol is permitted, just not in excess, nor in public areas. My dorm is for graduate students only, but I'm still not super comfortable about having a bottle of whiskey in here for the next 4 months. Single-serving beer is probably the only thing I'd consider.

The gay bar/nightclub wasn't too bad; it was as I expected. Female entertainers feature scanty clothing and provocative dancing, likewise for the gay bar for males. I wasn't really phased by it since it's like admiring the ideal male human body. The dance floor was a bit too crazy for me though. There was some married gay guy who seemed to want to dance with our group and I ended up dancing with him for like 5 min; I'm not too keen on physical contact in a place like this. lol

I've never been to a bar informally before (formal being before/after Head-Fi meets), nor a nightclub or speakeasy, so it was an experience. The environment definitely isn't in my realm of comfort, so I don't intend to go to another one in the future.

Duuuuude Toshi's! That's classic teriyaki! There's one near my place and we get that like every other week. The burnt chicken parts are the best! My brother gets the chicken teriyaki yakisoba. XD

Korean-owned teriyaki places are definitely all over the place in Seattle though. Keep an eye out for those gigantic circular plates with the funky line art on it. lol

Not sure. My MBP isnt my daily driver anymore, it's always plugged in when I need to use it (mainly to open design files or test stuff under OS X for work)

How does it feel like to be in a gay bar? Did you go there alone? XD

We have a gay village in Montreal, went there once, saw "everything", life will never be the same again=.=

I'd never go to a nightclub alone. XD
I went with a group of classmates. After all these years of declining to go to friends' birthday parties at clubs, I decided to go this one time. One of my classmates is from India and they don't have those there, so it was new for both of us.

If you don't mind homo, then it's really not that big of a deal. It was basically just a normal nightclub-like environment with more flamboyant people and shirtless guys. There was a sex toy shop literally right next door to the venue, so it was hilarious walking through that. I think I was the most knowledgeable of the toys there. lol
