Aussie border control only took like 7 titles (maybe 5 of which I already marked for destruction for being a bit too loli lol), quite surprised to be honest, I was expecting more. Yeah it was just like the TV show, an officer hauled boxes off to another room for a specialist to peruse ahahahah.

Oooooh boy gonna be fun sorting/cataloging on the weekend.

IIRC apart from the obvious loli stuff, the only other errr prohibited material was "school setting". I think I lost Twinbox's Teacher Teacher doujin to that rule, that one was $20 too I think. I did do a little bit of research but there just wasn't much info available online apart from shock headlines from news articles saying "all hentai banned in Australia" or stuff like that.

All in all they were very reasonable for us being such a conservative country, I was ready to say goodbye to half the haul. They seemed chill in Cairns I wonder how different things would have gone if I had to pass border control in Sydney?

100% the inspector played Genshin all of those were let through hahahahah.

Looks like the new season kicked off, ahhhh as a healer main I have to watch The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic.

Ugh don't remind me. I always try to watch at least episode 1 of everything but these days with 40+ premiers a season, its tough.

There's some good stuff this season. For starters, some villainess titles like Level 99 and 7th Time Loop, then we have "'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess", Sasaki and Peeps, Undead Unwanted Adventurer, Solo Leveling is kinda alright too

I wonder when Deadman gave credit to Shibayan

Deservedly:

Oh that mahou shoujo abuse one is kinda yabai...the anime adaptation is solid. How do I know? Not like I binged the manga right after episode 2.

Gahh having issues with a system wide parametric EQ in macOS. I might have to drop the 66 dollarydoos for SoundSource, I've been getting by with CamillaDSP but it's a bit janky and it glitches out sometimes when I wake from sleep (no sound until I full restart, and occasionally YouTube vids encoded with a different sample rate are muted). It's a touch expensive but it's cheaper than buying a miniDSP 2x4 so I'm literally saving money going with a software solution, right? I wish we had the equivalent of "Equaliser APO" on macOS.

It amazes me season after season how solid these Villainess shows are. Its the genre that keeps on giving. Thank you for breaking the wall down 4 years ago HameFura.

This is why I don't deal with EQ. Endless pit of a rabbit hole :scream_cat:

So I just rewatched School Days. I mean memes aside and I'm not saying this just to be a contrarian but uhhhh, it was definitely one of the anime of all time. What a bloody rollercoaster.

Team Kotonoha until the day I die. The MC (Makoto) is truly unlikeable I swear. People say the MC of Rent-a-Girlfriend is bad but sheeeeesh they don't make em like they used to huh?

I need a cigarette (I don't smoke). The OST was pretty good.

Typical post-School Days posting right here, re-watch or otherwise. You're quite right, they don't make em like they used to. The anime in the aughts was often so brutal, or weird, you could tell the creators basically had free reign. Today is very much like the decline in Hollywood, in another decade everything will be sequels and reboots. We're already at like 25% sequels/reboots per season right now and that percentage is just going to go up.

It's like I'm going through my nerdy teenage years all over again, what's next, Mirai Nikki? I might mix it up a bit and finally go through Oshi no Ko.

Been a long time coming but I finally bought a 2TB SSD, the Crucial MX500. Yeah my timing sucks I could have saved like $30 if I bought it during the NAND dip but what can ya do. Finding an enclosure that'll work full speed on an M1 Mac is harder than it seems, oh well I'll live with a max of 380MB/s instead of the 500 it should be doing.

Why not go for some other older goodies like Blood+ or the other super wild anime that would never get greenlit today? I actually never watched school days but I feel like I should watch it some day.

Curious, why'd you get one of those to make a portable SSD instead of a premade portable SSD like the Sandisk or Samsung ones?

What is making it hard to get full speed? I make all of my external drives like that too but all the enclosures and adapters I've gotten all maxed out my USB ports.

I went the DIY route I could choose the drive (flash endurance) and potentially hand-me-down it for some random internal computer duty in the future. The enclosures are super cheap anyway, makes it easy to replace if I drop it and break the port or something.

All I remember from Blood+ is the girl activating the sword with her blood (or maybe that was another series), too gory for me lol they repeated that scene like every battle like a mahou shoujo transformation.

On an Apple Silicon Mac it's a complete mess. Cables/USB>SATA chipsets/ports and the USB Gen 69.420 Birth by Sleep shenanigans means it only negotiates at 5Gbps (SATA III is 6Gbps, the port should support 10Gbps). One enclosure I have does negotiate at 10Gbps but the drive doesn't "mount" properly in the OS, go figure ahahah.

The original Higurashi series had pretty good OST too, I've been meaning to rewatch it to then check out the reboot.

The MX500 is a solid choice, pretty much the only drive I go with for laptop and desktop SATA HDD upgrades. It's one of the few cheap drives that still has a DRAM cache (capacity varies depending on revision - your 2TB could have 512MB or 2048MB DDR3) and not pseudo-SLC like the many DRAM-less designs out there. Plus it comes with nice packaging that can act as a case for any leftover 7mm HDDs I end up with, and a bonus 9.5mm adapter too.

Currently I have two 4 TB Samsung 870 QVO SSDs and have tried to move as much data over to them so search indexing actually works at a reasonable speed.

Meh a number of years ago I just got the LaCie Rugged SSD when it was on sale and called it a day. Haven't really done any speed testing on it either, all I know is it has a SeaGate FireCuda on the inside and it's decently fast. Manufacturer claims vary between 850 MB/s on average and 950/1050 MB/s maximum, so I guess it negotiates a 10 Gbps connection?

A great thing about it is that unlike many M.2 enclosures, it's a thoughtful design with the blade SSD sitting parallel to the PCB, so both sides of the PCB and the SSD can make direct contact with heat spreaders against a machined aluminum enclosure for ideal passive cooling.
