Agreed. And for you Horses fans, next week will see the release of Horses/Horses, the 30th anniversary edition of that album. It's a 2 CD set - CD1 is a remastered edition of Horses, including the bonus track "My Generation" live with John Cale on bass from 1975. This version of Horses has been remastered by Greg Calbi. CD2 is the current Patti Smith band (including Tom Verlaine!) performing the entire Horses album, live. Recorded June 25th of this year in London, it even features "My Generation" as the encore.

I personally am stoked.

Glad to see Mission of Burma,Raincoats & Minutemen mentioned.Back in the days of '85 I remember the "great debate" about Double Nickles on the Dime vs.Zen Arcade.I still go for the former though I don't know if it fits the classic definition of "punk rock".The Minutemen's own defining term for their music was "scientist rock"
Girl groups!!Don't forget Kleenex/Liliput or the Slits.
Back to '77-My favorite LP of that year was the first Vibrators album-not as historically important as the Pistols or Clash but a helluva lotta fun to listen to.
