Well, just came back from my first proper outing with X5lll and, OH Boy does it sound delicious! This time I enabled Viper effect and the thing brings juiciness and full flavour to the fore. So, sound wise : yami. yami!
However, software in FiiO player is ridled with bugs. It's like putting your hand in the jar full of honey and angry bees:
Search function in FiiO player - hopeless, very long delay from inputs on the onboard keyboard until characters actually appear in the bar, which caused me to couple of times instead of delete wrong letter, I deleted the whole word;
On the top of it eventually player froze, then crashed and restarted the app;
Pressing either physical or onscreen buttons to skip track forward it is executed with 5 seconds delay, while pressing back skip with about 3 seconds, What? what is this '95 Windows, with128Mb RAM and processor with 10Hz processing speed?
Come on FiiO, I could understand similar issues I've faced with X5 Mk 1, but not with 3rd generation. Lock your software designers in the bunker, until they fix issues, or just go down the road and hire some chaps from Cayin, they seem to know how to make stress free software.
I am stil enchanted with X5III, sound is not quite Cowon PM2 like, but betters Cayin's I5 in the bass section and it is lovely piece of hardware with excellent placement of all external controls and FiiO player lock screen is utterly brilliant, pity other manufacturers don't follow your suite.
I am running latest 1.1.4 fw and 2 Sandisk U1 class 10 cards, one 200gb, second 128gb, both filled and internal memory almost full.
I'll update impressions as I go....
