That is not the consensus... though a lot of people prefer the 600, most with TOTL gear prefer the 650 also the 650 is said to be better technically. Someone I knew preferred the HD600 until they bought the Schiit Jotunheim and heard some of the 650's potential. They now use the 650.

Mass drop has done their research and Senn knows this as well which is why they chose the 650.

Hey, that sounds like me!

Anyone who bought a Jotunheim or is thinking about buying one owes it to themselves to buy a pair of these. The 650 was already the best value in the headphone world. If you plug it into a Vali 2, it sounds very good. If you plug it into a Jotunheim, it sounds great. If you plug it into an Eddie Current ZDS it sounds incredible.

At ~$350 it was already a deal given how much more expensive most top tier headphones are. At $200 everyone who loves audio owes it to themselves to try these. Even if they don't end up being your daily driver, these are reference cans. With some easy modding they're made even better.

Of course if you already own a 650 you don't need this.

That is you...

This might be a dumb question but I already have an Audio Technica A900X (closed back for my computer, so as to not bother my wife) and an AKG 7XX for my PS4... should I think about getting the 6XX?  Should I get this and replace the K7XX?

The $199 HD6xx + $399 Jotunheim is an incredible value.

If you get the HD6XX with a Jotunheim that has the built in DAC, you're looking at great sound for $700. For many people there would not be a need to upgrade past that. Of course, we're crazy but that level of sound for $700 would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.

Wouldn't have been possible 9 months ago...

Optional balanced cable at checkout! Wondering how much.

I am not saying this is the same cable, just putting it out here just as a guide. I think they were charging $120.00 for the hd800. Cable for hd650 might be cheaper, not sure.

I bought the 650 version on Amazon for $77.00. Works a treat.

It's well worth it to buy a cheaper soldering iron and spend a little time learning to solder. The stock cable is very easy to terminate with 4 pin XLR.

Even if u want to buy a new hd650 cable to make a separate balanced cable it's under 30 dollars including the neutrik connector.

Oh balls. I've had 3 sets of HD650 over the years and now I'll probably get the HD6XX. I kept buying the HD650 because I love their sound for laid-back listening at home and then I always sold them again because I didn't use them enough to warrant having such relatively expensive cans just hanging at home, doing nothing most of the time. But $199 new? I can justify that.

DOOOOO EEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I will be picking these up.
I am starting to get a few cans in my lineup! m50x for carrying around to class and such. K7xx at home on the pc, and I also have the Ultrasone Edition 8 Ruth that I have to send off to get fixed.

At 200 dollars I do not know If I can not buy.
