Upcoming DAP from xDuoo - the X10!

The positives of FW1.1:
* Lock key bugs seems to be solved
* Its now better visible which menu item / songs is the 'selected' one.
* When screens is switched of, there is always a pause/play button where you can rely on. In FW1.0 the pause/play button worked only in the 'play' screen. In other screens it had other functions.

  I downloaded and tried firmware 1.1 just a few minutes ago with disappointing results:
It's still not gapless and there is still a 'click' when it starts a new song. If I listen carefully the click is at the and of each song:
* Song 1 ends
* click
* gap
* song 2 starts

What seems to be fixed is the first half second missing of tracks.

This really is disappointing indeed. The sound quality of this DAP is really great, but with clicks and without gapless it's irritating to listen to for a longer time. xDuoo ,come on, don't let this DAP slip through your (and our) fingers!!!!

Is there anyone here in touch which Xduoo who can tell if they continues developing the firmware by fixing the click and gapless?

IMHO If they succeed to overcome these two shortcomings the X10 can be the very best DAP in this priceclass.

I don't know why they can't do it. What I heard from them is that when a music ends either you cut the first 0.5~1 sec of the next music and no clicks, or no cut (or smaller cut) but clicks. It's possible due to the reboot (or re-clock) of the dac chip. They stick to a linux OS and it's not like Rockbox.

I just wrote an email about this to Tony again. The first time I did, after buying it, he answered within a day and promised a new firmware before the 23rd. So he was right for that part. They really must solve these two issues as fast as possible. I totally agree with you, this DAP can be a winner, but NOT with these 2 unsolved issues.

Totally agree with you. We need an EQ too.

I disagree :). EQ hurts sound.

In my opinion the X10 is an spartan audiophile device with pristine cristal clear flat sound aimed to reproduce sound as neutral/original as possible. Such device don't need an EQ. If you want another sound signature, buy another headphone.

Same for high-end audio systems with speakers where you are typically missing an EQ.

Just updated the firmware. First, the blue color for the selected item in the menu definitely increases usability but I kinda preferred the old aesthetics.

Second, and the best fix this update brings is to the off-screen controls - now when the screen is off even if not in play mode you have full control over the playback, which is a huge huge upgrade to pocket use and I love it.

Third, yeah, still a click between separate tracks. That's not an issue for me, so still don't care about it as already said if you rip or convert your albums in one file with cue sheet there are no gaps or clicks. I don't really get all the negativity towards xduoo - yeah, it still has some things to iron out software wise but it provides a great sounding product with snappy UI at a quite competitive price.

Let's not forget that Xduuo has not been making DAPs for a very long time and the X10 is still a big leap from X2 in a very short amount of time. In comparison a company like Fiio already had released a handful of players and a lot more experience before even xduoo was on the DAP market and despite that its DAPs also had a bunch of software issues. Right now this thread is kinda going in the completely wrong direction with pages of pages of complaints about tomtop, which has nothing to do with xduoo and complaints that xduoo is not providing a TOTL DAP with zero software issues for a lower price than the competition. Let's be more realistic. They are obviously working on the software and this update proves it, so props to them even if it doesn't bring all of the expected fixes. Yeah, if they fix the issues that apparently are so big deal breakers for some they'll have a total winner on their hands, so I hope they will eventually, but still, the X10 provides a great build quality, great sound quality and an extremely responsive UI at a great price, so in my book that already makes it a winner.

Having tried many daps from the legendary HDP R10 to top mid fi dap like Cayin I5 to totl daps like Paw Gold, the Xduoo x10 is a bargain. RedJohn456 deserves the credit for starting this thread. Fantastic sounding dap.

I agree that X10 is made to produce the pure/neutral/unfiltered sound. But at the same time it makes most of my headphones unusable.
Now it's only about the synergy game. X10 goes well with my KZ ZST, Takstar pro80, VE Monk 1, Rock Zircon whereas it's not suiting Meizu HD50, VE Monk Plus, Puro IEM500 etc.
Puro IEM500 is already a neutral sounding iem and listening to them on X10 becomes very dull affair.
Meizu HD50 was one of my favorite sounding headphones when I was using them with Fiio X3ii. But with X10 they sound just meh.
So adding an equalizer option will just increase the usability of this DAP.
