I am mostly definitely decided on Getting Grados SR80s. But now to know what else to buy? Would a Pana SLTC570 PCDP go well with them? Adding an Altoid amp would be a good choice right?
Do I need any adapters or special cables? Should I change the EarCup thingies to something softer? What Bag would you guys recommend? Where Should I buy them from in the US new? Anything else you can add would be great, and I would be REALLY grateful. Please if you have a thought just take a moment to post it! (Rock and Roll would soung good on the Grados right? )

Hi x1lexure,

Just hand over your wallet now, we'll explain everything later...

Seriously, yeah, the 80's will work very well for rock music, that's what their known for. To purchase them, simply check out:

www.headphone.com

This company is a part of our community and are extremely helpful and just all around a great company to buy from. If you want to buy an altoid you need to have a discman that has a line out. If your discman does indeed have a lineout, a mini to mini cable is needed to plug in your altoids amp to your discman. I have an altoid amp and its great for portable use and sounds quite nice. Many folks here swear by Panasonic pcdp's and i think yours fits the bill. I'm sure other folks will add info regarding the best bag to use and the pads (whether to go "comfy" or "donut"). Go spend some money!

Best of Luck,

I know cables don't make too big of a difference. (Or so I have heard from here.) But is there an min to mini you would recommend or just will any old one do?

(And thank your for replieing so many people have just passed me by from here.)

I second the Panny 570 / SR80 combo. Works well for me.

In this case, nah it shouldn't, i use a cheap one too, i got it from a fellow headfier, headphone.com carries them as well. I think the one i use goes for $20. The Straightwire mini to mini cable should do just fine. Contact headfier 'JMT' regarding building an amp, i guarantee he has a waiting list

Target has the 580 on clearance for $67 from their website now. That's the cheapest I've seen anywhere, plus all the advantages of buying from Target. Don't know if the b&m stores have them.

It does not have some of the features of the 570, including a true separate line-out, or a remote. Also I cannot comment on the comparative build-quality. But it is even thinner than the 570, and has the same headphone output wattage. If you do not plan on using a line-out with an amp, then this seems like a bargain.

Just an FYI.

Alright cool so just a normal mini to mini.

Jpelg thanks but no thanks, the whole reason of me buying the 570 is to have a true line out for a portable amp.

(Hehe I have already contacted JMT gloco, and now I just need to save some money.)

Cables do make a difference.
Don't get $2 ones from your local drug store that are made like crap.
Get something decent (and it will last forever) like the ones headroom sells. The right angle plug is nice and will put less strain on the mini jacks.
