Granted, Jack Nicholson is always a fantastic actor, but Jim Carrey's expressiveness was particularly suited for the Riddler's role. He seemed sooo evil!

The original Batman is still the best comic book-to-film adaptation ever made. The second was bad and the third and fourth were awful. I have faith in this one as it's said to be returning to a darker, less campy Gotham and Christian Bale is the lead (see his performance in American Psycho for a taste of his style).

I do agree. The darker it is the better. If I want a more colorful flick I will turn on the TV and watch Teen Titans on cartoon network.

I am actually really looking forward to this, because it's going to be a completely different approach to the films than has been tried before.

First of all, the material is much darker than any of the other movies because it deals with Bruce Wayne's personal mythology and backstory almost exclusively, i.e., the murder of his parents and his lifelong quest for revenge. This combined with the fact that it's being directed by Christopher Nolan of all people (the guy who made Memento and Insomnia, if that gives you any indication), and you've got a superhero movie that is definately geared toward more of an adult crowd.
Should be very interesting.

This movie has been screwing up the city for a while and I can't wait til they're done filming here.

I'm looking forward to it! Has anyone seen Bale in another movie called "Equalibrium?" If he can pull of the kick ass hero-type character he played in Equalibrium during BATMAN, he'll be more than pretty good! I'm also looking forward to seeing how the director would do on a comic film? I feel he'll again be more than pretty good or above average at least...............Hopefully?!

i was interested in seeing the next batman a few years ago, when aronofsky was going to direct. now.. eh, i really don't care. i'm told christian bale will make a good bruce wayne, as he's supposed to not be a really nice guy, which isn't really how he's been portrayed in the movies up until now.

schumacher should be castrated to discontinue the possibility of his "talent" spreading to future generations.

Ditto Grinch. I was most enthused at the prospect of peering into Aranofsky's twisted mind to catch a glimpse of his take on Batman. However, the new film's direction is not going to be handled by Schumacher (thank god) but by Chris Nolan, of Memento fame.

While it's no Aranofsky, I'll be at least willing to give the Bale/Nolan combo with an interesting premise (Batman *Begins*) a chance.

Drew Barrymore? I don't remember that. What role did she play? I remember Alicia Silverstone was in it.

Ahhh, but I am serious..... But in a Monty Python & Holy Grail sort of way.

Look, the Schummacher version was a COMEDY; "theater of the absurd". Tim Burton's attempts were dark drama/action. Burton tried to make the viewer believe in the characters and settings, where as Schummacher just dished out the most unbelievable characters and settings and left you laughing, while still addressing issues of the day.

"Holy Polaris, Batman" and a polaris missle goes shooting up out of the water.

Just when you think it can't get more outrageous, they go climbing up the side of a building and you never know who is going to stick their head out and say "Hi Batman!". LOOK, its Frank Sinatra!

So, yes, I'll take Schummacher's bubble gum version and the TV series. Granted, I like most of Burton's work, but once the shock no longer shocks and tension is no longer tense, well, its not something I'll pay $50 for the 5dvd collector set.

Q. What sits in a tree and is very dangerous?

A. A canary with a machine gun!

Drew Barrymore and Debi Mazar were Two-Face's girlfriends, Sugar and Spice.

Yuck, I can't stand Drew Barrymore. Was watching Charlies Angels the other day and thinking to myself, "Now, which of these three women doesn't belong in this movie..."
