So I've been in talks back and forth for a good while now with Mrice trying to get the original driver that my somewhat infamous E100 review was based on.

It seems that we have found them as the pairs I received today are spot on with my review pair! I asked for a frequency graph of them and this is what they sent me:

This just doesn't look right based on what I'm hearing? I don't know a lot about reading these so was looking for feedback from others to see how these stack up.

Thoughts? Thanks!

How did you get in contact with the Mrice?

They contacted me here on the forums.

Problem is that I've since sent them a "good" pair that match the ones I reviewed and they basically told me that the drivers match all the other ones I sent back despite them sounding different. So after that they've pretty much gone silent. This was probably 2-3 weeks ago or so.

Sucks too because now I only have two "good" pairs. If I knew this was going to happen I would have kept the third that I sent them...

My pair must have been one of the bad ones. Sitting in a drawer somewhere never to be used again.

Oh thats sad :frowning2: rare holy Baldoor lost forever. How did/do you fit your E100´s? What cheap earbud/iems do you prefer nowdays? What are the most resembling of "the one and only" Baldoors?

Mmm...that sucks. Yeah out of like 40 pairs I've been sent over the past year I've gotten two that sound like my review pair. It's a shame they can't get the quality issues down because, man, best headphone I've owned. Sold my HD800, JH16Pro, and EX-1000 in favor of these.

I have no idea. I found them and haven't even tried anything since. The thing that I can say comes somewhat close would maybe be the Dunu DN-2000, maybe? E100 has better mids, bass, and an incredible sound stage. Rivals open back full size cans.

I don't (use cheap earbuds) generally nowadays. However I prefer by some margin any of the other pairs I have in that same drawer

AKG K311/ 317/ 319, Sennheiser MX760, free Sansa buds etc etc

A very unnatural 'tunnel' sounding pair I have. Complete with none functioning decorative remote from new. Nice foams though

Fit is a BIG issue. If I don't put mine in the right way they sound tiny and harsh. Sounds like it might be a bit of a fit issue. Try putting them in sideways with the drivers facing forward.

Also, according to other reviewers (like 24bit) these are better than the MX980/985. They're that great. Way better than even the VE Zen (don't know about the latest 2.0 but the 1.0 was no comparison).

I have had MX980 & wish I still had. Superb.

I'll give the Earbells another try if I can find them but I'm not hopeful!

I'm not hopeful for you either to be honest haha! Knowing the level of difference there is between them the chance of you having a "good" pair appears to be pretty small. Hell, just based on visuals (not sound) I say like 4-5 different drivers in the E100. Sound wise there was like 6-7 different "sounds".

So yeah, either way, try the different fit and let me know how it goes!

Have you dismantled yours? Do you have any pictures as of proof? I´m really interested.  When you put your E100´s sideways to your ear, does the cable go pointing behind your head or forwards?

Yes I took all of them apart just about to check drivers. Have pics as well.

I wear my E100's like this:

It would appear though that driver appearance isn't everything. I've gotten plenty of E100's where the driver looks just about completely identical to my review pair but sound different. Hell, even the two other pairs I've gotten so far that sound the same have slightly looking drivers then my original pair. So even the same sound is coming from somewhat different looking drivers.

None of it makes sense quite honestly. I'm putting up to simply crappy Chinese standards that have no internal quality assurances. Mrice isn't making these for a company that demands strict quality control standards...seems like they're just throwing whatever driver they want into these.

Again...I've gotten 2 pairs that sound like my review pair out of, easily, 40 pairs they've sent me. That says a lot.

So I´ve always misunderstood how you fit E100´s in the first place. But my ears won´t even allow fit like that. I get the best sound driver pointing torwards the ear canal but cable running sideways torwards back of my head. Then I fiddle with the drivers angle just a little bit and voila -  Edifier H180/Monk/Monk+/Tomahawk rivaling sound.
