most likely, every Japanese cable maker and their mother makes aftermarket cables for HD6XX, that and the fact the connectors are prolly the most non evasive add-on to their cups steered Fostex to them.

Actually the part inside of the headphones takes up quite a bit of space, not as much as a mini-XLR but more than the SMC that Hifiman used to use.

Those ear pads were my recommendation. I've been using them on my TH600 for over a year. Fostex should send me TH610 for free.

They didn't?

Yea, preferably they sit their collective asses to a table and define one single good connector and then all shall use that.

Sure, as long as it's not like that contraption that Audeze uses on the EL-8.

Oh, that one looks nice... while I like the look of the TH-X00 the matte finish has something going for it as well.
If only they would have spared them those ugly protruding connectors... glad the TH900 did not get a driver change but just those connectors -- so I can keep mine

Yes, I know I could keep it anyway... in fact I'd be happy to have a removable cable, if just for the problems arising when the cable goes through the Y-part between the cups and gets even more tied up.

I like the matte finish. Looks way better than the tacky varnish on the Massdrop model. Still, the matte black ThinkPad look of the 600 is my fave among the TH models. Not sure how I feel about these new connectors though. The non-interchangeable cables on the original TH600/900 look a bit sleeker to my eyes.

For those who like shiny wood there is also E-MU Teak. In house competition being a Fostex headphone very similar to the old Denon 5000/7000.

There's a thread dedicated to them.

Darn, and I joined the latest TH-X00 drop also. I must admit I am a sucker for more of a matte finish myself, but personally, I don't think the X00's glossy finish is that bad. The 610's wood looks a lot darker anyway, so it might not even be mahogany like its Massdrop cousin. Looking forward to hearing what other people have to say about the sound qualities when this thing finally comes out.
