About the 'tempered glass screen protector' for the xDuoo X3, I have looked up some suppliers.

It came to this that I was thinking of starting kind of a fundraiser. I think that way we could have our quality screenprotector(s).
Never done a fundraiser, don't know how it works but I came to this: https://www.gofundme.com/protect-my-X3

I think that when all goes well, I can place an order with a supplier for a batch of custom made screenprotectors.
I then would be able to distribute them by means of simple shipping them to the contributors.

Any ideas how to fine-tune this fundraiser?

Thank you

PS: maybe starting a new thread would be a good idea... :)
PPS: any ideas about minimum contribution or minimum quantity per contributor?

I think that it's better to start a new topic for this. Besides, I don't think that fundraising is the best idea for this. Could you ask the supplier what the minimum amount is that you can order? If this amount is sufficiently large enough to satisfy us then we could simply deal with things via paypal perhaps.

Minimum amount is 1000 pieces for a manufacturer with a decent price per unit. Others have lower MOQ but higher price per unit.
I was looking for a way to:
1) make an inventory of people that would be interested,
2) find a way to insure that I won't be stuck with say a large amount of screenprotectors and
3) find a way that people won't have to pay in advance.

I thought this fundraiser would be a great start.
The money will only be withdrawn when the target is met.
That way you won't pay in advance. It's like placing an order only when the production really will take place.
When target is not met, the money is not withdrawn.

I'll start a new thread for this.

Has anyone bought the X3 from this TOMTOP site? They are very hard to resist right now at their price! the X2 is also on sale for about $33 so you can get both for only $102.5 if you use the VE5OFF coupon!!!

Oops wrong thread...

Could you tell me what the price per unit is? Thank you for starting this new thread.

8.00 USD is quite expensive for me. Going by the conversion rate of my country, that is about Ringgit 45.00, which is sufficient to even buy a screen protector for my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact with change.

Any chances of it being cheaper ?

It won't get any more expensive, that's for sure :)
I think it will be cheaper though, depends on how many will be bought.

Costs are accumulated from these ingrediënts:
1 it's a custom made small batch, higher initial production costs.
2 expedition of the batch from China to The Netherlands and
3 shipping out of The Netherlands.

I can tell you that sending an envelope <20grams inside my country (The Netherlands) already costs USD$0,90
Shipping an envelope <20grams overseas costs USD@1,50

For that matter, I'm always baffled that buying an item in China can come with free shipping, but when I would send this same package to a friend who also lives in The Netherlands, that will cost me about USD 8,00.

Sorry for the late reply. I agree that 8 bucks a piece is a bit too expensive, certainly expected it to be a bit cheaper(around 3-4 bucks a piece). This is pretty much the issue with starting these kind of projects when you only need a few pieces, thus impossible to enjoy from proper scale-production. I think that unless more people opt in, I will just keep cutting the screen protectors myself or wait until there are proper ones on the market.

Thank you for the effort put into this and I am sorry that I might not be able to support it.

It's a shame they're too expensive as I could do with a good screen protector right now.

As you can see, there's not much interest in the tempered glass screen protector that I hoped to place an order for in China. That's why price is this high. If only people would say they would buy one or several from me, I would take the risk to place the bulk order...
