I built a pc strictly for music and am using Windows 10 AE. All by itself, it was a downgrade.
Free Fidelizer in Purist mode was as good as I have heard music sound. This pc is only for music. I have another for movies, internet, etc.
Moved my outboard equipment to the W10 machine and just use HDMI audio to the monitor with optical out to the dac or just the monitor speakers on Win7..

Purchased the Pro version for the Windows 10 pc. It works too well to deny. No, I haven't done any measurements.

a few weeks back I posted about a video playback issue with Win 10 AE. Since the official release, this condition hasn't changed and I still cant play any type of video file (or stream from YouTube either). as soon as I uninstall Fidelizer pro I can then play video files and stream from YouTube.

Has anyone else experienced this. I have tried every profile available and still no luck. prior to the AE update I could leave Fidelizer set to audiophile / audio renderer and experience zero issues.

if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. I don't have the time or budget right now to build a designated audio computer

I'm glad to hear that. I also realized recently that performance from Windows 10 AE is less satisfying than before. It's hard to listen to music without Fidelizer Pro now. Good thing I disabled Windows Update on Nimitra product so it won't suffer such fate.

I'm using Windows 10 AE right now. I can play YouTube video with Google Chrome just fine. Trying playing video files without issues too. Maybe it's software or driver dependent that doesn't work with Fidelizer's system configuration? You can try using Fidelizer Pro without system configuration in advanced mode and see if it works fine for you for now.

I believe updating drivers and player software can fix it. Or you can try clean install Win10AE from new ISO to start over. Some problems happened from updating. Otherwise, I may have to adjust some optimizations that will affect sound quality in future releases.

the drivers are all up to date as well as player software. this is only new to AE. when attempting to play a video file I get an error message stating I don have enough memory which is false. I have 32Gb of ddr3 2400mHz memory and am at 3 % use at idle. disable system config doesn't help either. I am going to try a complete clean install using the image on Microsoft's website, but if I remember correctly I did that just after the official release of AE and didn't re enable the insider preview

Hello WindowsX,

do you mean with "performance is less satisfying" that the pure Soundquality of Windows 10 AE is worse, or just playback music without issues on AE?

It looks like pooling optimizations isn't working well with your case over there. Could you tell which media player software you're using? Is it 64-bit? What is your graphic card and its driver? I don't have such issue from PotPlayer x64 edition on AMD Radeon 7700 card.

It looks like Windows 10 AE has less transparency than TH2 builds. It's not that bad with Fidelizer Pro, just little less transparent. But it's much worse without it as you can see here.

Have you tried other software like PotPlayer or any other media player software with YouTube integration. I believe J River Media Center 22 is also a fine choice for both audio/video solutions with YouTube support.

No need to thank, man. But report back if something worth mentioning happens, please.

I am going to load the next preview build that was released today... see if that changes things, and if not, I will do a clean install from the latest official .iso

Update - Looks like there is a bug in AE that is causing my issue. Just finished updating to build 14905.1000 rs2 branch on the Windows Insider Preview and now it seems my problem is solved. in fact the first thing i was greeted with after the update finished installing was a pop up that asked if i was having audio problems and would i like to trouble shoot it. No need to because even with Fidelizer in Audiophile / audio renderer mode like before i can play videos from all my usual sources.

My guess is Microsoft knew something was broken in RS1 and has set out to fix it in RS2... thanks for all the advice and i will let you know if anything else crops up

Update #2 - after an evening of enjoying being able to have Fidelizer tune my listening experience, i shut down my computer. that turned out to be a bad idea. my morning boot revealed that my bliss was only temporary and the condition that plagued me earlier has returned, so I did the only thing left. reverted to a current build and then I uninstalled Fidelizer (temporarily). Time to do some more head scratching and experimentation

I saw the Realtek audio in your list of components. I disable my onboard audio and the video card hdmi audio on my pc with  Audio Render. I think 3 sound options is 2 too many. Youtube plays fine.

thanks... I will give that a try, although I did just complete a full system restore so I wont be able to determine if that was my problem all along

UPDATE - (hopefully the final one). i think i have finally narrowed it down to the NVidia video driver causing issues. it took a full system restore and paying close attention to the driver installs to figure it out. driver version 358.91 was working, but as soon as i updated to 372.54 the issue resurfaced. rolling back to 358.91 made everything good again.

I've just done a clean install of 10AE, as couldn't do an upgrade (always crashed at 71% completion), now time to start putting everything back on...

Wish me luck.

hope all went well for you, my woes are gone for now and in the future I will make sure I run any driver updates through an image I have running in a VM before I pass it on to my main system
