When we can expect unbiased:) review of DX200 vs AK380? Anyone burned in DX200 enough)))?

it is better than ak380 normal/black edition in imaging but rivals the cu/ss edition with the cu having more control and ss having more air.

Have you tried a firmware update and factory reset?

I tried a Firmware updated but without factory reset. Will tried it again with a reset and hope to solve the issue.

Maybe you should try it with another DX200 unit if it possible to see if your unit is not faulty because my DX200 is quiet when wifi is active there is no static noise when using Noble Katana with the stock cable, I can hear the static wifi noise if I using Katana with Effect Audio Thor Silver II+ balance cable but the noise is on minimum level.

I am using the stock K10U cable.

I listened to the dx200 using stock music app. and actually it sounds nice, yes the eq is not that great, but the thought that a parametric eq will be introduced might make a difference to me at least. DX200 compared to fiio x7, the dx200 is way way way better sounding. the x7 sounds so synthsized and digital and I despite it now, worst sound I ever heard from a dap.

I am just going to wait if they will add a parametric eq and then make my decision, as I like bass and I need a solid eq to achieve good bass quantity and impact, and with the eq now I am not achieving the bass I want

But after the parametric eq gets introduced I will try it again and see how things will work out

Until now only cowon daps could meet my bass needs via its dsp

Also soon I will listen to fiio x5iii and see what will I hear there

Told you DX200 sounds slightly different to typical Sabre implementations.

I had both AK380+amp and DX200. After 200 hrs of burn in of the DX200 I literally sold my AK380+amp. If you are using Android OS or tidal or any player in the android OS, you are not fully utilizing the dx200. Please press and hold the power button for three seconds and switch to Mango OS. The difference between Mango OS and Android OS is surprisingly significant! The soundstage, imaging and power instantly enhanced by switching the OS. On Mango OS, the DX200 is absolutely comparable to AK380+amp. Both have excellent soundstage and imaging. The difference is that the DX200 is more dynamic while ak380 produces smoother sound. The difference is just on sound tuning but not on quality or ability. I end up selling my ak380+amp which I own and used for 3 months and I don't feel any degrading at all.
Comparing to the Sony Wm1z/a, the DX200 has better soundstage, imaging and analytical ability, while wm1z/a has better bass and warmer and more concentrated sound. Some may say DX200 is lack of bass but it's EQ can easily fulfill your bass needs. So if you are a Sony Fan or a super bass head or loving more intimate sound, then go for wm1z/a,but if you are looking for soundstage, imaging, analytical ability, transparency and clarity, DX200 is just a winner. DP-X1/a or fiio is just not at the same league.
At last, please don't waste the dap and start using Mango OS on dx200

Here it is:)

Here it is:)

Thank you @likwacheng. I sooo wish the DX200 had a nice, possibly balanced, docking station... Hopefully in the near future, would be nice to get a hint from Paul on wether this is indeed in the cards or if we should just forget about it.

Can you please expand or elaborate more on how this implementation is different? Please. Thanks

Just my thoughts.

Typical Sabre DAC units I've heard are usually quite vibrant and aggressive in detail, they can be overly vivid which makes them sound fatiguing over long periods, sometimes they even sound a little pushy in the upper mid-range regions. In combination with an earphone that's tuned to also push can come across as exaggerated, in-turn it just leads to further fatigue. There's also something known as Sabre glare which is extremely close to what I've described above, an almost grainy sound to the music coming through with the detail.

Now, DX200 does have some Sabre instincts and DNA which is understandable considering the DAC chips used but it has a special gift. Present around the tonality is a light hint of warmth which basically protects the listener from user fatigue, its still very detailed like a Sabre sound is, still extremely high in resolution but the added touch of warmth along with note thickness creates a slightly smoother (and to some extent) more musical presentation. Its not something you come across often, and I also imagine harder to tune something this way.

The end result though is pleasing more end users.
