Case is good...but I think the x3 needs some good screen protectors...the supplied ones are crappy to say the least.

Agreed which is why I simply cut down to fit some excellent screen protectors sold by http://shop.brando.com/ .
I'm sure there are other viable sources out there besides Brando too.

Erm, guys I seem to have found another MAJOR PROBLEM with the x3 firmware (or maybe it is just my unit).

For information and clarification purposes, I organize my music the following way:

Artist > Album > Tracks

As you know, I may have a mix of formats in a single artist e.g. :

Lisa Ono =====> 2006 - Jambalaya =====> 16 bit 44 Khz (FLAC)
                 |
                  ====> 2010 - ASIA          =====> 16 bit 44 Khz (320Kbps MP3)

As I try to play the whole Lisa Ono flooder on my X3, an error would occur whereby the MP3 files will cause the player to read my whole Lisa Ono flooder as DSD files (even though I DO NOT have any DSD files) and it will not play. Can anyone clarify if it's just my unit?

p.s. to play a whole folder containing a number of sub-folders, just press "OPTION" and then "Play Folder"

Thank-you

I have email Xduoo and Tony was a fantastic champ at providing info on the issue at hand. Here is what Tony wrote to me when I told him of the problem:

We have tested and find out X3 can only read the songs in the folder but not the songs in the sub-folder, and if all songs are in the sub-folder and no songs in the folder, X3 will display a DSD down below and can't read any songs because there is no song in the current folder.

I have asked whether Xduoo will be able to add sub folder read ability and he told me that it would be possible and the will try to add on the function.

Any idea where can I obtain the new case bsides aliexpress? Is the seller of these cases on Taobao or Ebay? If so, may I kindly have a link to them?

I'm keeping an eye out on ebay too as I don't have an aliexpress account.  Figure it may be a week or three before we see them there.

I want to get the X3 but the only thing holding me back is its UI, button placement, and basic display( as seen from the photos)

Would my money be better spent on a FiiO X3ii ?

And would i be corrrect to assume that the FiiO has warmer smoother sound whereas the Xduoo will have more neutral ,cleaner and more detailed sound with massively more soundstage and instrument separation?

Or

Would i get better SQ with an amp plus my current FiiO X1  Nevermind i want OTG function and/or another MSD slot.

Personal opinions and/or comparisons would be very much appreciated

I have a kind of related problem: I had all my songs (64GB full of Mp3) to one card, without folders. I mean, everything into one folder. Now the player hangs every time when I go to the folder menu to select this memory card. So there seems like a limit for a folder for number of songs it can contain. I wanted to listen to this memory card as a shuffle mode radio, but on accident if I go that folder menu, I will have to reset the the player, I have 2 samsung 64gb evo+ cards, and I can say if you have proper folder arrangement, there is only very little lag, compared to my older Fiio X3, which used to be really laggy on a full memory card reading.

the text lines sometimes overlay in top of each other, like two words showing at the same time.  also, when there is acectuation like á ó õ etc it shows a chinese character.

there should be an option to play the root folder(and all the sub folders), is there it? i know there this can be aplied to other folders, not root.

I'd noticed that, but in my case the containing folder "Arvo Pärt" shows up correctly, but the FLAC tag for the file has Chinese characters where the ä should be... Odd.

Interesting tidbit that I had not seen mentioned here. Received my player on Saturday after 2 weeks delivery. Unit came in box completely sealed, but has the newest firmware update already installed. Wasn'tgoing to update to the newest firmware, but after messing around with settings found that I was already running it.

Anyway enjoying the player a lot. still burning it in. Less warmth and a lot less bass then my iPods. More warmth and a little more bottom then cayin c5 with boost off. Pairs rediculously good with cayin c5. Separation and soundstage are life like and that's with closed phones. Listened the SRV little wing flac through c5 with the boost and had an eargasm. Then listened to Bob Marley legend remastered flac and almost cried. Pitch bug doesn't really bug me and its pretty much unotacable.

Oh nice. Good to know xDuoo is improving the product everyday.

Sent mine back for replacement today. Hope my replacement will come in a sealed box as the one I'm returning didn't have any seal.

Nice to read this.

So I've recently bought a D14 amp/dac and I'm burning it by playing songs through my laptop. Before that I've tried it with my X3..

Well the decreasing of soundstage was apparent immediately. I used to get wide and big soundstage when using with the X3. Therefore I am certain that the soundstage is coming from the X3.

I am not complaining though.. Still enjoying a smaller but more focused presentation

Ok so I borrowed a pair of Havi B3 Pro 1 from my friend and paired themwith my x3. Great pair, no doubt, clear, almost analytical. Good soundstage. But I had to bump the volume up near 80%.
Then I added his Oppo HA-2 to the mix and I felt the clarity and instrument separation got better. Soundstage also seemed wider.
So looks like the Havis really shine with the x3 with an amp. But, I was looking for a pair of IEMs that go very well with the x3 WITHOUT any external amplifications (I know an amp will help most of the time, but still). My main requirements are clarity and soundstage. I am not a basshead at all.

So with that said, what IEMs do you guys recommend that have excellent synergy and great soundstage with the x3 WITHOUT the need for an amp?

I recently got a pair of the Ostry kc06a and they pair wonderfully. My Soundmagic E10 have taken a seat although they pair very well the Ostry kc06a has slightly less bass and a clearer sound.
