Did you mean January 12?
I find it hard to believe that FedEx would quote a one month delivery time.

Sorry for misleading lol Yes, I mean January 12 and it arrived my office today.

Reading the manual while waiting for delivery, I see that the specs call for 32-600 ohm headphone impedance in balanced mode. That pretty much rules out IEMs right? or is that a typo? SE out can go down to 16 ohm.

Does anyone know how to change the gain setting on this? I can't seem to find it.

I just got my unit on Friday, and still in the process of familiarising, as well as enjoying the sound

Another question as well, I believe the stock music player is the HF player (modified?), is it worth sticking to this, or is it worth getting something like Poweramp?

Settings --> sound & notification.

Some tested and reported distortion with third party apps. Just search for it in this thread if you want to read those posts.

It drives TG334 fantastically in balanced mode, it is very dark, no hiss, nothing. That is why I'm eyeing on TG334 or Dita truth balanced, this thing is just built for this.

Thanks, the spec is strange. I've seen balanced out have lower output impedance versus SE on amps I've owned, but Onkyo seems to have it reversed.

Lol, sounds like I helped a little @masterpfa

Then again, the also readily available Pioneer XDP-100R is an amazing DAP at a great price anyway!

However, I just could not shake the feeling that with a little extra I can have a true balanced DAP with modern Android and great (minimal) aesthetics at a superb price!

My feelings on the DX-P1 over the XDP-100R exactly
Yes you helped a great deal @TheOneInYellow

After listening for about 2 hours this is my first impression: DP-X1 is a real deal. First nice thing that I realize is great instrument separation, details and layers. Vocal is clear like crystal and very neutral. Bass is not boomy but tight and fast as everyone said. Since DP-X1 is very good at instrument separation so you will never find it lack of bass.  High is crisp and extend, most extend for mid-range price DAP I ever heard.

Not typo.
But I'm using UE900s(30 ohm), and there is no problem!

That's amazing, glad you got it!

Thank you for the impressions too dude!
What headphones did you use, in what mode (SE or balanced, and any sound and gain settings)?
Also what music did you play?

Ha ha ha, just a little more patience! Though I'd be bouncing of walls...

Aww, thanks!

I was theorising what to play first on my DP-X1 when it arrives, but after today's news...'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' vinyl rip...

If it's not been said already...

We have lost another legend...

Bowie.

I'm going to play some Bowie music via Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus to CEntrance HiFi-M8, but NOT Blackstar or TRaFoZSatSfM until I get my DP-X1...

:'(
