Great price and performance

Oriolus

A hybrid IEM that didn’t sounds like one. The crossover is extremely well tuned and the whole IEM sounds simply coherent, with exceptional bass tightness too. Until I was told I assumed it was a full BA IEM with some monster low end driver in there.
But the highlight was the mids and highs for me. It simply had better treble extension than my MH334 without being remotely bright, it was clean and airy, the mids are similar in presentation and was very lush and intimate. It also have a very natural soundstage, not unlike the FitEar.

MSRP at $999USD, to me having spent significantly more on my custom MH334, seems like a bargain. Exceptional treble presentation and a natural sound signature, it is one of the best IEM I have ever heard.

Finally the unique impression of the oriolus.
I bought my pair two months ago and I was impressed by this iem day after day.
If you have the oppportunity to try the Oriolus take a chance.

I'd like to nominate myself for the numpty award also.

I made a B-line for the Sennheiser stand and was merrily a/b-ing the HD800 and 700's, gave a quick glance to the cans on the table to my left, thought they looked a bit big, and old, then ignored them. Only after leaving did it dawn on me that they were the hallowed Orpheus HP's. D'Oh!

Ha ha. The award is yours! Actually, I heard them a few years ago and although they were nice the HD800's were far superior. Technology moves on. Thats why Sennheiser have just "partially announced" a successor to The Orpheus. Now that will definitely be worth hearing. If you get the chance and miss that the award is yours permanently! :)

Well you missed a real treat, even though they were released in 1991 they are still on par with the latest and greatest, Which only goes to show what a great achievement they were.

Those who visited a Viva Audio stand do they now have two headphone amplifiers available? I know of the Egoista but in the photographs I've seen of the event they seemed to have another too?

Unable to be at the show. Thanks to everyone posting pics and impressions.

Hearing a lot of positives about the Questyle QP1 and the Fostex MK3.

Any comparisons of the Questyle sound quality versus other portables (Pono, ZX2, DX100, etc.)?

Also, not seeing anything about the Marshall London yet. Is it at the show and has anyone heard it?

Will say that the DX100 is outperformed by the Questyle QP1R. Didn't try the QP1. Difficult not having the AK380 and the Lotoo side by side with the Questyle to make a convincing comparison but the AK380 was the superb sounding DAP to my ears, the Questyle QP1R was magnificent though.

The cheaper Lotoo, the to be released grey plastic one was very interesting... More so to me than the gold, which sounded quite heavy / thick to these ears.

The only reason to favour Snuggs over the Custom IEM Company for this reason is if you will want more sleeves manufacturing in the distant future (beyond three months), which most people won't.

Actually there is another reason for favouring laser ear impressions over gel ear impressions - no gel goes into your ear, there are no risks of any gel remaining in your ear, and there is much less room for imperfect impressions . All of which are reasons why many people have given on this forum as to why they are prepared to spend £1K plus on IEMs which are universals and not make them into customs or simply buy customs in the first place. I have had gel and laser impressions done.  The problems I had with getting someone to do my ears until I met the Godfather of ear impressions , Mr ACS, Andy Riach, you wouldn't believe.
Not so with non contact laser ear impressions ; they were happy to do mine and I could see the impressions taking perfect shape in front of me . And no sticky deposits! This is the future of the IEM market for Audiophiles! We will see if I am right in 2 years time!

Thanks. Looks like the Questyle is next on my list (too bad it lacks usb dac functionality though).

Will be trying out the AK Jr. tomorrow. AK380 looks great (especially the docks and accessories) but way out of my price range.
