FLC Technology FLC8 and FLC8s Impressions Thread

I'm hoping to meet Forrest and try a Celeste prototype at RMAF in a few weeks. You can be certain I'll post my thoughts here!

Man I can't wait to hear your detailed impressions. If my assumption is correct on red/grey grey gold (subass depending on fit), the sound sig is mid-centric? There is definitely some rolled off highs with silky and forward mids which is what I love. I've done some research on CIEMs and mold impressions in my area and I might actually take the plunge for it this time as long as Celeste keeps the same magic going just like flc8s. Spinfits are very comfortable for me and probably will be my go to universal tips for a while, but I hate to adjust them every so often due to different sized canals for each ear. Nevertheless, flc8s still impresses me, but I'd love to see what is beyond this level of SQ and experience CIEMs, call it end-game.

nmatheis, I've been looking at some of the Hifiman daps. If you're going to RMAF and have the time to try them out there would you mind reporting back on what you think of them? I tried the Shanling and it wasn't for me and have been considering the HM Supermini or the HM650 instead but am unable to try them myself.

All three Shanling DAPs sound different. Which did you try? That info would help me steer you towards A DAP. And yes, I'm going to try the HFM DAPs at RMAF.

Just curious... What do you mean by more natural sounding? What sounded unnatural about M5?

I felt like I was missing some of the warmth from vocals listening to the M5 compared to some other daps I had on hand to listen to. I may be spoiled though, I was able to listen to some of A&K's better daps, and the chord MOJO at the same time I was listening to the M5

I do not have either the M3 or the Mojo available to me now;  I had them on loan status.

To my recollection the overall sound quality of those units was not all that far apart.  And yes I liked both very much.

The description of  "natural sounding" applied to both.  More importantly; with both it was fairly easy to stop worrying about soundstages; air; etc. and start grooving to music.  All kinds of music.  At the end of the day that is goal in my view.

Well said, as long as you are able to enjoy the music very much, you are right on.
