KGSShv Carbon - hows it sound with the 009s?

Is gungnir multibit really a bad source? according to schiit they are fairly close in terms of sound quality may be yggy is just 2-5% better.

Gungir Multi should be a pretty good choice for the Stax gear. I run a Yggy, and reports are the Gumby is slightly warmer, which would be useful in a 009/
L700+Carbon/BHSE setup (such as mine). I don't like my Yggy so much from the USB input, though, so you'll want to have input/setup options to choose what works best.

I also have a Eximus DP1 I'd like to unload some day, and it sounds nice (much better than a Benchmark DAC1), but it doesn't hold up to the Yggy and I'm absolutely certain the Gumby would be a better choice than DP1. The Eximus does look a lot cooler than the Schiit gear, at least. And its USB input was pretty good (no improvement from AP2 there).

I didn't like the QB9/BHSE/SR-009 combo that i heard. Too forward sounding.

Multibit/NOS Dacs should be a better pairing.

I am thinking it will be challenge to get a smooth and natural sounding DAC for that price TBH. The 009 is like a 50K speaker, and putting something in front that costs 1K USD may not work well. I know, price is not always performance, but once you get to 2K things start to get better and more choices.

I would go used, Metrum or maybe look at the AMR DP-777. It is R-2R and tube output and has a brat USB input. I use it in my second system with the 009s and Carbon and there is no fatigue. In fact it beat the CH precision C1 (a 20K DAC) for smoothness and natural sounding music. You may find a used AMR for around 1.5K USD.

Buying anything new at your budget will be a struggle IMO to get a well balanced system. The 007 is better suited to more front ends TBH. And you will need NOS tubes to get the pairing at it's best as well.

Sorry, don't want to sound negative, trying to help you.

So i think gungnir multibit it is. Also one question, are 009s really the best headphones other than he 1060?
