That's harder to answer without the right equipment, but from just a seat of the pants evaluation, I'd say they the Jr has more power. I recall maxing out my X1 with my IEMs, didn't get that close with the Jr.

I was at around 59 out of 75 on my Jr. I recall maxing out on the X1 looking for more volume...

Wow, and you're using IEMs? What IEMs are you using? I don't think I ever had to max out the volume with my X1. I don't want to sound like a parent or something, but you might want to be careful with the volume being that loud, you don't want to damage your hearing :p

I am using the Momentum in ear Iem. I know, a little too loud. Believe it or not, I do practice safe sound. This was at a max level before clipping occurred...just trying to understand its limits. I always go too far and then dial it back to a comfortable state.

did you try the line out? The line out is really good on x1

Yes, it was much better when I connected to my Picollo amp. But to compare apple to apples, just comparing the DAP on its own without outside help, the Jr was better on its own. I don't plan to using the Jr with any outside help, which was the point in choosing a player that can handle being by itself in such a small, slim form. The X1 and the X3ii are very good at what they do, in their small size, just saying that the Jr was better. Also including the factor of using a touch interface rather than a scroll wheel. I still planning on using my X3ii, just will be for a different occasion.

Ok, so I have very little time with the Jr, but I love my 100ii. Can't tell if it is the the interface or the the internal dac (wolfson vs cirrus) but given the 2, I'd easily choose the 100i. But they do different things. I got the Jr as a travel rig and I use my 100ii as a home transportable source. The caveat is I'm still getting used to the Jr while I know the 100ii very well. The interfaces are somewhat different. Sound quality is on the 100is side. The Jr is close.

I got the Jr as a travel rig so my expectation for an on-the-road rig was lower. Not bad, just different.

Unamped, would you say that you would still choose the 100ii far over the Jr?

I might pull the trigger and give my daughter the X1. I have 9000 + songs and the scroll is a project. I wish the Jr can change themes though. like a dark theme

I just sold my X1 and still planning on using my X3ii. I do like the ability to change the theme. I'm using the denim one on my X3ii currently. I like that my 100ii has that ability as well. That was one disappointment in the new interface with the Jr. But it may be evolved by upgrades...still, plenty of praise to give the Jr. Like I said, love the X3ii, just a different tool for a different job. Use always connected line out to my Picolloo amp. Great combination.

Yes, it is that much better in SQ and usability. It is close, but better. Not sure if it is the difference in DACs and interface or what, but just a richer sound.

Well I don't use a amp, just headphones and my car and if it can perform better than the X1 in sound then I'm good. And I know the UI is better

The bass seems better in the Jr, the mids are about the same. The highs are a little more sharp. Soundstage is wider in the Jr. The sound seems a bit richer, most likely due to difference in amp and a DAC set-ups.
