Thanks ..be interested to see

I've pointed a needle to the front vent:wink: There is some nail polish around the rear vent that I used to seal the vent since I made it too big. I poked it when it is half-dry to achieve the size I wanted.

Penon audio has a set for 8.50, and clam compatibility with many sonics (see the link for the list)
http://penonaudio.com/VSONIC-Foam-Eartips

Comply list the 400 as compatible with the gr02, with is in the list, so if a=b and b=c, then theoretically, the 400 series should work. But, you point out the 400 series doesn't work. I think I have some 400s at home to try, but at a conference for a week.

I spent a leg time on a plane today using both the AN16 and the sennheiser IE80. Guess which where more comfortable and sounded better? Of course the IE80s did, but the AN16s certainly gave the, a run for the money. I probably won't keep the AN 16s unless I can get comply comfort tips working, so we'll see.

My guess is that the AN16s are now a collectors item that will be worth millions one day!

I hate giving people incorrect information, so I looked back into this as much as I could. This is what I found.

The Penon audio set are the same VSonic foamies I bought off ebay. They're very similar to the ones that are included in newer headphones, not the old gray foamie with the hard, semi-reusable core. Just going off of a few specifications, the AN16/GR06/07 have a 3.5mm nozzle. That's 1 mm bigger than my MG7 (the reason I had a Shure christmas tree and Shure olives), which I could also use on my Klipsch S4 and X10 (which are apparently 3mm). The GR02 has a 5.5mm nozzle. That's the same as the MEElec M9, and about 80% of the headphones on the market, it seems. I can assure from first hand knowledge that to get those VSonic foam tips from Penon (assuming that are what I got from ebay) on a 5.5mm tip, you have to stretch the crap out of them. I did this a couple of times. The core is also kind of rubbery and degrades with normal wear even on a GR06/7. They cannot be used to make a T400 fit(at least, not long term).

It has been a long time since I bought any comply T100 tips. I thought they were inferior to the Shure Olives, so I've never tried those in this situation. It seems that after doing some reading, several people have had a lot of success with the Comply Whoomp (T140). It was made especially for the Apple In-Ear and essentially has Apple branding. As such, Comply probably couldn't say that it fits any other headphones (assuming it does).

I just gave my AN16s one last try with my last fresh pair of S400s I have, turned upside down, and they do sorta work. The right one pops off in my ear every time I try to take them out, and it seems overall to lessen their bass output.

Personally, I've have the best luck with the official Sony Hybrid tips with GR06/AN16 model. I think they sound better and are more comfortable, but maybe this will give you a few options to try.

Actually...

The AN16 has two mounting rings on its nozzle. The bigger ring near the base fits the T400 complys I have here like a glove. The problem comes if you swivel the nozzle significantly from pointing straight out of its base, in which case the comply can no longer fit properly over the big mounting ring near the base...

Has anyone noticed any sort of channel imbaalnce with the VSD2S? I returned my first set because the right side seemed slightly louder... my second set has the exact same issue!

Haven't heard of this issue yet. The only thing I could even remotely complain about with my pair is a teensy, tinsy, einsy bit of driver flex in the left earpiece. Barely noticeable.

There may be some QC issues that make AN16's not exactly sound alike. Mine has great mids. Better than the Titan 1 and the VSD2S. As couple have told me they like the VSD2S mids better but no way when I compare the two i have on hand. The AN16 though are quite tip/depth dependent as well which may be a factor with some ectra depth and a bit of occlusion effect giving hollow vocals perhaps?

Well, the QC issues like outer sheath (tpe) bit torn or cable came out of y split due to little poor pressing, thus exposing internals were acceptable due to meeting pre-order delivery timelines and infact lmue replaced them with even shipping the problem ones to them covered......but that didn't affect the AN16's sound, mho.

Exactly, the mids of AN16 are so nice and are different to 2S....

AN16 sound on the interesting side, as far as vocals go? Like they are mono'ed but almost hollow?

And now I've burned them in and truly feel they sound different. Like a whole new beast.

I had GR07 mkii's and I'm putting AN16 just under it in some aspects, and feel they've improved on other aspects.

Great IEM.

Meanwhile the VSD2 has a very hyped sound signature, while retaining mids. I'll agree that the bass is pretty pumped up, and the highs can be harsh after some time, but it's a headphone that makes all of my music a joy to listen to.

This is probably the best $38 I've ever spent.

I'm really not feeling the AN16. It sounds to me like a more detailed, less V-shaped, and thicker SHE3590.
The soundstage is also very, very narrow. Haven't heard the GR07 or any of its variations but from what I read, they're not even close.

Does opening both ports do anything significant for the soundstage. I have already opened the front ports and am liking the sound so far. However, I don't want to risk opening the back ones in fear of boomy bass. But if the soundstage really improves, I might consider it since the soundstage is kind of dissapoint on these.

I bought the gr07bass after the AN16. Yes, they are not even close. The gr07's bass extends much deeper without noticeable bass bleed into the midrange and the treble extends much higher, which contribute to a taller soundstage than the AN16. The presence region is also more pronounced in the gr07s, which makes the vocals and guitar sound more lively. I've already modded my AN16, it seems the divers simply do not have the potential comparable to the gr07 in the gr06 housing. I can only increase the mid bass level with bigger back port openings, but can not make it extends deeper.
