Xiaomi Piston 3 (2015)

Does the iPhone support mean they are dropping Android 3 button support? Also improved bass response sounds a bit iffy. I find the v2's far too bass heavy already if that is what they mean.

That's honestly very likely, although why they'd make this move is beyond me. I mean, they do still have their own phones...

I cannot believe they will make earphones that dont work with their own phones.

But I am assuming that the jack setup on Xiaomi phones is still different to Apple devices?

Uh, no, it's not. The jacks are still CTIA, which is a universal connector. However, the signals on the remote only work for specific devices, which is why Apple controls don't work on Android phones.

Eh, this thing doesn't support 3 button android remote? That's weird considering their phone are android.

Their phone is, yes, based on Android; however, it is a custom, self-developed ROM, MIUI. The Pistons 2.0 were also known to not work with some regular Android phones, so no, not as weird as you might think.

Yeah i am aware of that, but if piston 3 support iphone 3-button control, afaik, it won't support android 3 button control as well.

Unless i am loss in the translation of the piston 3 china's website lol
It might as well mean the remote only support the play/pause/answer feature for ios

Yep, if it's iOS-only, it's iOS-only. Unless it's a universal 1-button remote, which I found works with anything, actually.

I just tested on my Mi Pistons 3.0.

The volume controls do NOT work on iOS (tested with iphone 6) . The middle play / stop button works.

On android volume control and music control works.

I hope that clears up the confusion.

If you have any further questions I started an impressions thread for the pistons http://www.head-fi.org/t/760847/xiaomi-pistons-3-0-impressions-thread

Heh, the lying bastards. "Apple-compatible," they said. Apparently it's supposed to work with Xiaomi phones. Okay, that cleared up a lot, thanks.
