"The Lab"

Uh oh, we're on the topic of video games! I've spent way too much time playing games since the Intellivision era. I spent considerable time playing that system and have had almost every console since (except the Jaguar). Spent a ton of time in the arcades as well. Afterburner was a treat and so was Tron. Man, memories.

Gauntlet was my downfall. Grew up a block away from an arcade, and had another one between my house and school - made for a convenient place to hang when I skipped class. Never really was all that good at the games though.

  Man, I've really been itching to get a TKL or even a 60% keyboard. Just feel it might get annoying to play games with a ton of keybinds :p

Well I a lot of people confuse my Keycool as 60% layout, they're 75%, but if you're really talking about 60% I really don't recommend something like the Poker or any other layout without  the arrows keys people most people will miss it a lot of times, even the Leopold it's kind of hard to recommend because of the lack  of the F's row.
TKL is the easiest to recommend!
IDK how is the shipping and taxes from massdrop to canada, but if it's easy I recommend the Quickfire Stealth -> https://www.massdrop.com/buy/cooler-master-storm
Solid build, nice price and it's super easy to replace the keycaps (you're going to change it after a while, truste me

)

BTW, I checked that they only have it in MxGreen, well if you've never used a blue keyboard don't get it, there should be a new drop next week

Thanks for the response! Since my wife also uses the computer, it's complicated not have an abnt keyboard. I've thinking for a long time about get one of those mechanical keyboards but never find a way to get it with a abnt layout.,

Well the only one is the TK, but the keycaps aren't that nice and the layout may be strange for some people, there aren't many choices for an ABNT keyboard.

Anyone have ever played the Quest for Glory series?

Just be sure to post impressions when they come in!

A suggestion though, use narrow bore tips and brass filters with the ed9, and wide bore tips with the ATE.

Enjoy!

What tips are you referring to when you say narrow/wide bore (examples please)

@peter123 You tried the ety tips with your ed9? (about the narrowest I can think of)

Thanks for the recommendations. The QuickFire from MD will end up quite expensive. $20 for shipping and I'll probably get hit with customs fees as well.

I do have a full-sized Filco with reds and have a set of PBT double shots coming in from MD, so I'm quite familiar with the urge to replace the keycaps :p

There's a bar/arcade in my town

#barcade

I hope they have mortal kombat 2, that was my jam!

This place is where I go on rare occasions. It's in the closest big city to me, Springfield, MO... 1984 Arcade is sick.

Pole position, Tempest, and Galaga are some of my favorites although they are all like 5-10 years older than me, lol.

I remember when I was a teenager and all the local malls had a arcade in them, every Friday night we would go hang out in them. The good old days, kids these days are nothing like how we grew up. My daughter was out with her friends and had to cut threw some woods and told me how scared she was. When I was 14yrs old you couldn't keep me out of the woods playing manhunt and riding on bike trails. And when I was a little older we used to party in the woods all the time.

Narrow=Sony hybrids
Wide bore= anything with a opening as wide as the hozzle of the IEM
What kind of tips do the ED9 & ATE come with?
The ATE comes with some nice foam tips, but they take away from the sound. They also come with some generic silicone tips.

The ed9 comes with some decent silicone tips, but Sony hybrids work great with them when using the brass filters

I remember malls had arcades in them when I was younger as well. Nowadays the ones that are basically left are Dave And Buster type of establishments. At least I can get prizes pretty easily by winning the Kung Fu Panda game a few times (that game always offers 500 or 1000 tickets depending on which type of arcade you are in).

Definitely! Great for dates as well. Also like how they (at least in my area) had/has half price every Wednesday. For a few dollars work I was able to win a multi-colored, powered rotating disco lamp. Groovy!

I can drop so much money there in a matter of a minute, does yours have a bowling alley also?  To bad we all live so far apart we could have a Head-Fi guys night out.
@nmatheis never heard of either of those places Dave and Buster is like an adults Chucky Cheese and they serve drinks also. Serving drinks doesn't help your wallet, the more you drink the more games you play lol.
