If you get one - I'll definitely look out for your review

In the meantime - patiently waiting for the DN-2000J to get here.  That is one titanium driver I'm looking forward to.

When I see someone saying that they prefer the Takstar HI2050 over the DT990 or the Pro 80 over the DT770 I wonder if they are doing something wrong, or these chinese cheapos  are really nice headphones and I not missing TOO much with them...

I have the pro80 and hi2050 and I think they are right up there with my much more expensive stuff. Albeit they aren't better than the hd600 or k7xx,they are definitely in the same league and I don't feel like I'm missing anything or cheating my ears when I listen to them.

The hi2050 is epic, and the pro80 is really good worthy of a much higher price than what they go for.

they are good cans but I don't think they are better. Everyone's perception of what they hear is different, do keep that in mind.

Between these two ...which has better detail clarity and better separation ......thanks

They both have the same driver, but different cups. Hi2050 is semi open, and pro80 is closed back.

Hi2050 naturally has better separation because of their design.

Details on both are pretty much the same.

Pro80 has a more forward lower midrange. The hi2050 vocals sound more natural to my ears.

Have you ever made a comparisson with both?
I think I've never seen a good one.
Are the HI2050 bass lighter?

Yeah for sure, but if they're like 70% of the sound quality, it's still great for the price!

I would say that they are closer to 85-90 percent of the sound quality.

Both Takstar are good headphones, H20 approved, owned and enjoyed.

But I'll take a used HD25 personally.

I see a lot of people claim that Titanium is brighter.  I find it amusing that silver is also said to be brighter, while copper is warmer (interesting it corresponds with the colour of the material eh)?  What's the bet that if we had sighted tests of gold wiring/plating - the claims are that it would be warmer too (I digress - ignore me

).

The difference will almost certainly be in tuning changes they make as well.  They won't simply be coating the driver with titanium and releasing it as a new model. Now if the keep the same warm, muddy sound - I'd personally run a mile.  It does seem to be the target for that series though - A71, A81 both dark IEMs - whereas A83 and supposedly A73 are supposed to be the more balanced.

If anyone gets a pair of the new A71 I'd love to be wrong (for Fidue's sake) - but I'm not expecting to be.

In my experience, I don't think any manufacturer would release a second version of the same earphone and keep the tuning the same. It's almost always an improvement worthy of releasing it a second time. TTPOD was a classic example with the T1E, and so was Meelectronics with the A151P. The second version of both models were great IMHO.

As for titanium drivers, everyone I've heard so far has had really good speed in terms of attack and decay, and maintained better than average resolution. I'm sure someone is going to come along and mess up a titanium driver and make it sound horrible, let's just hope it's not the case with this retuned a71.

I'm with you on this one as well.  Just a property of titanium material that able to handle better transient response which results in extra clarity at the low end and top end (which makes them sound brighter with a consequent perception of wider sound as well), and I have experienced the same with titanium driver IEMs, and as a matter of fact find Titan 1 to sound a bit metallic at high volumes (and I thought I was the only one until I read H2O review aligning with it).  But hey, we hear things in a different way.  It's not about you are right or you are wrong in how you perceive the sound.  Besides, there are too many variables in addition to our hearing, such as eartips (foam vs silicone, wide vs narrow bore, single flange vs double/triple, etc.) and audio source (both hardware source, amps, and selection of songs used for testing).

Fidue got slammed for A71 being warm, smooth and bassy, which I think was their original intention with those double dynamic drivers, so I think A71 updated version is part of their "redemption"  No plans to review it, but would have been an interesting test.

Btw, regarding wires and different materials, it just a science of periodic table where Silver has lower resistivity and higher thermal conductivity in comparison to Copper - as a result analog signal transmits with less losses through silver wires (and the cost of silver drives the price up :frowning2:).  But one thing I don't understand, Gold is the opposite in comparison to Copper, but I still see some headphone cables mixing silver and gold and charging arm'n'leg for it, while in theory pure silver wire should have a better performance.

Corrosion resistance - it's why your jacks are gold plated and not silver

Yes, makes sense for the connector, but you are on to something!  I think I know why they mix gold with a silver, silver gets tarnished and discolored (especially under clear wire insulation of the cable).  I wonder if mixing it with a gold keeps the color shinier
