What was the deal with the nx1a? Seen it mentioned a few times, but nothing about what's different from the plain o nx1

It is just an updated version of the NX1, hopefully more reliable than the original NX1 (from what I have read on Amazon) but what the differences are have not been disclosed but my guess is that it has an overall better build quality to it.

I am impressed with the NX3, early days but I think it is better than the Fiio E12A and the Cayin C5 but as I no longer have them, I cannot do a direct comparison.

Of course synergies/pairings are always unpredictable.

Funny, I was just planning to try the NX2

I think I remember someone say they preferred the NX3 over the NX2.

Definitely well worth a punt on it - I liked it straight out of the box, very neutral and very transparent with very good sound stage and depth, musicality and timbre, etc. - need I say more!

Mine is silver and I think it is a nice size and well made, I think the NX1A is a bit too small for my liking and a noticeable step down from the NX3

I'm pretty sure the DAC is better in the NX2

I've got the original NX1 and like it quite a lot. Build quality is excellent from my experience but the EMI/RFI is a dealbreaker if you plan to pair it with a phone.....

The NX3 has no DAC, amp only, NX3 is more expensive than the NX2.

If you try the NX3 you may not have to buy any more gear, which might put some people on the Lab off!!!

My point exactly since I need a unit with a DAC  I really don't have the need for yet another amp only unit.

No need for a better sounding amp than the amps you already have!

Maybe you do not need a new DAC if you have a better amp?

The transport I plan to use doesn't have a working analogue output so a amp only would be pretty meaningless.

With all do respect I have my doubts that it'll will outperform all the amps I've got but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Do you find it to be better than the Mojo?

:grinning: Ok call me stupid, (go ahead) but I apparently need some enlightenment. I just read a review that enthused me quite a bit. It concerns an Analog output Dac/ Dap called the Soundaware Esther M1.

Then I thought about it for a moment.

It seems to me that unless you have some serious Analog only equipment to produce a source like a Cary or Mackintosh All tube analog amp coupled to a turntable with an all analog phono preamp and lots of vinyl, or maybe a good reel to reel, that having an analog output would be a moot point. ANY other source would be digital domain, IE: streaming, downloads, recording off of CD, DVD Audio or SACD. Therefore you would again be subject to compression and fidelity loss during digital downconversion and upconversion.

Am I over thinking this? Or am I correct?

Just curious.

Peter, I am just giving my views on the new gear that I have, it is only general and not specific, I know you know you gear and we all strive for improvements in different ways with different gear.

I am so far underwhelmed with the Mojo but it is early days with only about 6 hours burn in, if I was not a believer in burn in it would be on its way back.

I will also try it as a DAC with the NX3 and in my main Hi-Fi system.

Ergonomically the NX3 is Superior for portability compared to the Mojo (and which later I will probably explain in more detail)

But I have no intention of becoming a reviewer as I am quite happy with my status as a random HF poster.

Curious about what you don't like about Mojo compared to your other gear. So often I read that something is better but no one specifies what the specifics are, or even their preferences. Not trying to convince anyone of anything, just looking for more frame of reference.

:grinning: HiFi I know the custom goes for $599. Any word on the pricing on the Universal?

:grinning::grinning: TWIN
Same price last I heard.

Dude these things are incredible. Some of the most well rounded sounding earphones you will ever hear. I have a lot of really good earphones at the moment and these Aria are as good, if not better than everything I currently have.

THEY ARE the total package. If you could hear the combination of dynamics and transient response you would believe me if I said they cost over a thousand dollars. That's not hype my friend, it's the God's honest truth.
