Vs alien Soundwise?

I just had a quick listen between the two players with Fidue A83.

X2 is smoother warmer (as in bassier) and less engaging than Alien, more relaxed or laid back, maybe a touch rolled off in the highs. This probably explains why I'm having such good results with the overly cool analytical H-300 hybrid. This also means X2' isn't quite as detailed, but on a technical standpoint X2 isn't really far behind in instrument separation and maybe even edge out on soundstage width as you see me keep mentioning these as strong points.

It actually pairs really well with A83 similar to H-300. I think if you're looking to replace Alien for $55 that's not going to happen as we know that unit performs terribly high for its price. If however, you're like me always looking to mix n match tonality on that quest for synergy between IEM and DAP then X2 is going to have a place for you.

For example, my H-300 has just found a new long time partner with X2. (I will leave them together because their tone sits well)

I've also noticed X2 has a relay switch like found on common amps and iBasso units, that click you hear on start up switching the amp section on/off. For those who don't know what this means bassically there's no loud pop on start up because this relay switch inside X2 prevents any current reaching the IEMs.

You should email them Kova, I would check it out.

Well, I'm not in a hurry. Penon has done their job - they sent it out on the 9th and gave me a tracking number. Stuff like this happens often with the package not being dispatched right away or even within a week. As my vsd5 was sent out on the exact same day by LMUE it would be interesting to see which package will arrive first

Kova when you get it let me know if you have any hiss with the Vsd3 (at least mine tend to hiss a lot with a lot of sources).
This may be my cheap combo for gym.

Disappointing it can only resume to the beginning of the track, not to the last point within the track.  Any chance that will be improved viafirmware update?

You've read wrong or I didn't explain properly. It resumes to the position of the track duration you switched off at. Anyway, regardless of that I think any resume at all is fortunate.

I based my comment on post by @kova4a :

"Also, there seems to be auto-resume but it only resumes to the song you're playing but not to the exact part in it."

I'm glad that it supports granular resume

Theres some fancy repeat options.

Normal.
Repeat one.
Folder.
Repeat all.
Random.

When a folders finished playing it seems to start again at track one. Maybe it just stops if all files within a folder are played once. (I was checking the last track to see if it bounces to the next folder).

Alright, it appears if you change the the repeat option to 'repeat all' it then plays the next folder after the final track.

Ok, chiming in here since I finally got a chance to listen to mine (had it in the package from Penon together with T2 since Monday, but only got a chance to listen to it now).  I do agree with H2O on most of the comments, except I found that I have to press middle Play/Pause button twice in order to pause the track, but it resumes with a single click.  I'm happy the firmware is upgradable because I'm pretty sure they will have to fix some glitches.  Also takes a bit getting used to, like for example moving down the list you need to use left/right nav buttons instead of up/down.  But not a show stopper.

I like a little relay click on start up and fade in/out effects as well  :)  Overall, build quality is SOLID!!!, though when you shake X2 you can hear buttons rattling (they are a bit loose, by design).  OLED screen is bright and with a nice contrast, and when off - mirror reflective, kind of neat.  Sound quality is WARM and SMOOTH, but still very clear (better than Clip Sport, for sure!).  In comparison to FiiO X1, xDuoo X2 is warmer and has less sparkle in treble.  Overall staging is wide.  I only had 5min to play with it before the work, and tried it quickly with Titan 1 - it's a match made in heaven for bright headphones.  So definitely would be great for Titan 1 or A83 or any other bright or analytical IEMs.  But for something warm like DuoZA or A71 or CKR10 - might not be a good idea, though I still have to test it out.

Will do more listening tonight, but so far I'm impressed with a sound quality considering most of my other DAPs are bright/brighter (X5, AP100, N6) and until now X1 was the only go to for brighter IEMs.  Btw, I didn't hear any excessive hissing with my very brief listening session of Titan 1 and T2.  I mean, X2 doesn't have a perfect dark background, but it's not bad at all.  Actually for a warm/smooth little matchbox size mp3 player it sounds surprisingly clear.  I just hope they straighten out firmware because my unit is a bit inconsistent with responses to single button clicks.

Twister just summed up what took me a full day, several posts and about 2.5 pages, very well done. Look forward to hearing more.

PS: not sure about your button response problem, mine seems ok.

Any heat issues with this device? The output power is surprisingly high for such a small enclosure. The specs claim similar power as the FiiO X3, and I remember some users saying that ran a little warm.
