Measurements on them look horrible. http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/FlareAudioReferenceR1.pdf

I've listened to them extensively, sad to say I can't say I'm very impressed. The measurements of Tyll Hertsens seem spot on to me. They definitely need work before the R1 can be called a reference-headphone. Build quality's quite good, fit's a bit tight, but the sound is just too muffled to my liking.

Headfonia has a review up of the R1 that just went live right now. Here's a link if you're interested!

I pledged for the R2A BLACK. Flare is just a few miles down the road from me but I have to admit I had never heard of them before today when I saw an article on their patented technology in the local newspaper http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/12944791.Has_a_Sussex_firm_invented_the_best_headphones_ever_developed_/

They seem to have some seriously credible people endorsing their products and expertise, so I got my Visa card out of the topp sikrit subterranean vault and risked it.

They have user replacable cables and drivers and it's a local company so that swung it for me.....if they break I can get on my bicycle or on the bus and go bend someone's ear and get the spares :D

I hope it succeeds and if it does I'll post some impressions when the earphones arrive.

Great! I'm glad at least one other HF member backed this project LOL It's supposed to be a new technology, not being picked up on HF. Flare Audio has stated that common used FR measurements/graphs do not apply to their new technology, that could be a reason for people staying away from them.

Flare Audio wrote on their FaceBook "If you are anywhere near Lancing, West Sussex you are more than welcome to come and have a listen" so please do us all a favour......... get your butt on your bicycle, have a very thorough listen to their whole line up and report back to us

Apart from artists and business insiders I haven't seen any ordinary people raving about them, so you'd be the first ;)  Looking forward to any serious impressions before this campaign ends ........

Thanks for the reply. I'm not on facebook so I wasn't aware of that invitation. I now intend to drag my hefty bod down there fairly soon and try out the toys....

Will post again and report after play time.

I wish (kinda) that I was gonna receive a new R1Mk2 unit to see how it compared to the first iteration of the R1, but I am actually quite happy to try out these R2PRO's that are coming my way.

I'm not on FB either, Flare posted a link to their page in their update. Hopefully you'll take the time to visit them, can't wait to read your impressions. Have fun!

The R2PRO are coming your way before the campaign ends? I'd be very interested in your findings.

Did you ask Flare Audio for a R1MK2 review unit? Flare Audio confirmed that they haven't changed anything sonically compared to the R1, however they did make some improvements to the comfort.

Well, they didn't say when the R2PRO was coming my way, just that it was..

And nah, I didn't ask for a review unit for the R1MK2, ya know, since I only kinda wish that I could see what the differences are.. Thanks for letting me know it's purely the comfort aspect of the headphone. That truly did need some work. I wouldn't wanna do another review though, if that is really all they changed. I wanted to like the R1, and at times I did after a period of adjustment, but most of the time I couldn't tell if it was the best or worst headphone I had ever heard. It confused my ears/brain. Lol
