JH Audio Layla and Angie - Head-Fi TV

I appreciate and understand your point. I just haven't had enough time to vet and validate my own conclusion regarding these cans vs. the Layla's.  The Fostex TH-900 are very good cans (without question) but for my particular environment (traveling on LIRR, NYC subways and buses) I need superior isolation and better portability. The JH Layla's may be the "perfect" solution for me as the full size cans are just not practical to travel with (so I don't) and I'm way too fussy with regard to keeping my equipment in perfect condition. That said, I've got "my eye" on the yet to be released HE-1000's for home use.  We'll see.

Sincerely,
-Speed

Give them some more listening. I've owned the TH900s, but they are no where as transparent as the Layla's. bass is just so clean and taught, the mids & treble are a class above too. Throw in an improved sound stage (especially when using them balanced with my AK100II). I love my TH900s (owned them for just over 2 years and along with the LCD-XCs, I consider them the best closed headphones I've heard), but I'm quite surprised that an IEM has surpassed them.

^ diminishing returns comes into play quickly with DAPs.

True. The audible differences between the AK100 II and AK120 II were pretty minor. With FLAC and WAV files, I couldn't differentiate between the AK240 and AK120 II.

So turn around time for the new ciem is less than a month? wow, that's very good news.
I almost got the Roxanne but my dealer said 4-6 months!
This make the new addition to Siren Series very appealing.

Yes, that's incredibly fast. Probably better than all the other major CIEM companies out there. I actually received my custom Roxanne after 3 months from the date I placed my order, and I thought that it was already fast enough.

Got sick of waiting for my local shop to stock the Angie's, so I just placed an order from EarphoneSolutions. They should be here in a few days. Very excited

Wore them to work today. They are fantastic. I love the K3003, but they don't hold a candle to the Angie IMO...

EarWerkz has a 10 day turnaround time for their C/IEMs, which is one of, if not the fastest, turnaround time in the entire world.

I love Angie too! What are you using for the bass setting? Mine are at 3:00.

I ordered mine 5 weeks ago and I am still waiting for them... Sigh

I actually ordered the universals initially to see how I get on with them on a long term basis. I tried them out at a UK show with the AK120ii and likes what I heard in the 10mins I had with them.

I don't think AK in the UK can have their stock in yet :frowning2:

Does anyone know of any good comparison/review between the Layla and K10?

You really need to borrow a pair of K-10 and compare that to the Layla. Can somebody help?

Quite interesting to see a lot of comparison between Layla and K10. I would imagine a close comparison is more between Layla and UERM.

I have a pair of K10s coming.  When it gets here, I'll be doing a Layla vs K10 vs UERM vs 1P2 vs UE18 comparo.  Will that help?

On a side note, I just have to say that I have tremendously enjoyed the impressions that have been flowing in.

The K10's is a beautiful IEM. I had them for a week and really enjoyed them.  I would describe them as engaging, warm and fun!  The Layla has a different sound signature.  Yes different not necessarily better or worse. The Layla is engaging, and has a fun factor too but its ability to reproduce each instrument musically and more accurately is where it shines.  I've listened to a number of recordings I know very well and I actually finally understood the words in several passages that I simply couldn't before. It is a very resolving ear piece.

That will be awesome. We really don't have that many serious reviews on these phones.

I keep mine at 1:00, but I have done full bass to completely flat. I like it all, but 12:00 to 1:00 are my favorites. The layering and soundstage of the Angie is something I haven't heard in any other IEM. I believe that the Layla is possibly better sounding (although I hear they're tuned differently), but I can imagine it's $1,300 better. At any rate, I'll probably never find out unless I catch a demo at a some audio show.
