Lately I've been using my pair with some HifiMan double flanges, my favorites so far just amazing. Ymmv and sure will with such a individual thing as fit and tips.

It's okay I've just resolved to use the medium stock wide bores and carry the medium Sonys in the case as well.

Just in case....

I think the stock tips are pretty much clones of the Sony Hybrids.

i thought so too, i will have to do some testing tonight to see if theres a difference

it the dunu (black and green) hybrids do look and feel awfully similar to the sony hybrids, maybe a bit stiffer ( but that could just be related to my longer usage with the sony hybrids >dunus)

who knows!

Just a small update with more Titan praises. A few days ago I was happy to finally buy the Audio Technica MSR7 after reading the nice thread and reviews of those babies. Yesterday I have reached the 200-hour burn-in mark with the MSR7 and today did an A-B comparison with the Titans.

Wow! But believe it of not, to my ears and source, I actually find the transparency and decay of the Titans more satisfying. There's just that nice clarity in the cheaper Titans that the MSR7 cannot touch. YMMV. I understand the MSR7s are so amp dependent and according Earphonia's post and findings, I have no doubt that a Tube source would elevate this pair. Make no mistake, I am also in love with these Audio Technicas and it has something to put on the table. But in direct comparison, it somehow falls short. Be it soundstage size, treble or comfort. Apples and oranges indeed. But for now, the Titans has better crystal clear highs, forward mids in a huge soundstage with resolving tight sub-bass.

Massdrop is yet to ship my Shure SE846 and hopefully might be here in a couple of weeks. Then the HPL Silver Litz cable is also coming. So I won't be able to avoid comparing that with the Titans. I know its crazy comparing a pair with another that's almost nine times its price but one thing I learned from my MSR7 comparison, sound has no price. And this Titan is definitely surpassing it's monetary value.

You won't be disappointed with the shures. As good as the Titan 1 is, the SE846 leaves them in the dust (as they should).

Should be interesting. My predictions: The SE846 will own the Titan in the Bass and Mids departments. The Titans will give the Shures a challenge in terms of soundstage. Treble will be up in the air depending on how the new silver cable will synergize with the Shure white and blue interchangeable filters but I do hope the Titans will hold its own. Will also look into timbre and neutrality differences.

I'm not so sure that the 846's will exactly per se "Own" the Titans, there are varying degrees of opinion on this. I thought My IE8's would also be light years ahead of these inexpensive 'phones. Not true at ALL. The comfort level is WAY ahead of the Senns. In Fact, the more I listen to them the smaller that tiny performance gap closes and I'm even considering selling the Senns and putting the money into equipment upgrades.

That is how good they actually are. I would have not believed it either. Clearly price/performance is now skewed with the newer IEMs coming out. Of course you have to take into account that I'm a little older and my hearing isn't quite as acute as it used to be.

I feel compelled to add an additional update to my previous comments regarding the Titan 1. I must also apologize to Vivian ( Dunu Customer Service) who supplied me with my review set when the Titan 1 was first introduced. At that time, although I felt that the build quality and included accessories were superb, I also felt that the highs were somewhat thin and and overly bright. I relayed these impressions to Vivian and in reply, she suggested that I accumulate about 200 hours before passing final judgement.

I have never really felt that "burn-in" was capable of major changes, but in the case of the Titan, I was mistaken! I now have well over 200 hours of use with a variety of quality sources and must say that the Titans have matured into one of my favorite phones, regardless of cost. They are supremely comfortable and tonally have become very well-balanced. Highs are no longer overly bright and the soundstage and imaging remains expansive and conveys a great sense of space and realism.

I have found these phones respond to tip changes more than most, so it will be well worth the effort for one to audition several different types of tips to achieve that "special" sound.

I can, without reservation, state that the Titan 1's can compete very favorably with many high $$$ phones. In fact, in my case, they have replace several phones costing up to 10x the cost of the Titans. For lifelike sound, outstanding build quality and in-ear comfort, purchase of the Titan 1 is truly a no-brainer.

Thanks again to Vivian for encouraging me early on not to give up on them prematurely!
