Absolutely, you will see how much better the TRRS makes everything sound. Make sure you secure your jaw before having it on for the first time....

attention all sony zx2 owners who use the ****ty stock music player

you must get gonemad music player

oh man this player is a revelation

and to think that i discovered it by chance as i was searching for headfi posts on other zx2 music players

the sound has tightened without becoming flat-flat , everything has gone up a notch at least

i can't stop listening to my zx2 these last 24 hours

i always thought that stock player didn't do justice to a 1000$ dap

and then onkyo player came up and it was very good but no folder search

and then gonemad emerged from the horizon and the angels began to sing

It is true that gonemad player is really good with zx2. The sound becomes much more defined and neutral with better transparency, trebles becomes addicting

I feel like if someone paid 1k for a dap, and don't want to check this app out....it will be the biggest loss.

Love it!

To any zx2 owner out there: if you love stock app, good for you. Please do yourself some favor, and download some other apps and see how well you like them. Because the stock app player is stink....

Onkyo app will allow EQ ability, it is a neutral and flat kind of player, everything will be tightened with better resolutions and details than stock app

Gonemad app take the flat and transparency on another level, it tighten the bass more, leaving more air to everything else, and giving more trebles resolutions and definitions. I like neutral and flat with a lot of details for my listening experiences, so I love gonemad app.

I love the ZX2....I don't even know if there are other apps out there can even do better ? But the ability of zx2 to sound different with different apps is amazing. Wow!

Gone mad has this natural tone, where all the harsh high's get smoothed over and I can get emerged in the brilliant sound stage, and rich warm bass that the Sony zx2 is brilliant at producing.
Good find @proedrose, gone mad is nuts on the zx2.

Totally right ? It is like Zx2 has transformed even.

And what a "transformation", this is incredible, every song is sounding expressive on a vocal point that touches your musical insides like never before.
I haven't adjusted the settings on this app either, just pressed play.

Exactly! A good sounding DAP with a good software = no needs for colorations or EQ ! Well, that is because I love neutral, transparency, and details in my music :D

I can't believe how good it is with the Zx2. Sony should have hired this guy, the gonemad founder to be under their wings......erhm...actually they would just gimp down the app quality just exactly how they did it with the stock app player...

I can never get over this Irony....a top tier Sony product....but I prefer 3rd party app instead of Sony app itself lol.....and how a little investment 3.99$ for. Gonemad app, can net in such huge improvements

Cheer proedos ! I freaking love it

Gonemad doesn't do DSD. And with sony sound enhancement app disabled, the volume is lower than stock player.

guess i am a lucky guy as i don't do DSD either , and the volume is just fine for my IEMs

sure some people will not fit with gonemad , but so far 4/4 people who tried it loved it

so i guess , it is a good music player for those who can fit their needs withing the framework of gonemad app

cheers

Well, iam sorry to say this and i know that people may not like what i say :D but we can just agree to disagree , no hard feelings

between the onkyo and stock app there is a very significant change in sound, the onkyo is very flat.

with the gone mad i have compared some songs for more than an hour.

and it is not near flat, in fact it is the same stock player sound (now people will not like this)

But i compared very well alot of songs going 3 seconda at a time.

i had the hardware buttons control the stock, and i had the gonemad app on screen with the same song.

i press play on touch screen and hear 3 seconds, then pause gonemad while same time pressing play on hardware button with no latency or lag at all, so i hear the 3 seconds twice directly after each other

I hear the exact same 3 seconds not a single tiny change in frequencies.

so i say its either uses android libs (onkyo) or sony libs (stock or gonemad),

thats my humble opinion, i will stick with the sony since i like the UI better and there are fast forward and rewind.

if you like the sony stock app as a gui in anyway, then try to compare SQ again.

if you prefer gonemad gui, then i guess your good to go. (As iam pretty sure they are the same :p)

on other hand, i have been comparing using my new just received ANGIE and WoW!!!

I wonder if the gonemad app simply does some DSP processing internally? Doesn't make sense that it would sound so good without DSP happening. I'll bet the internal volume is jacked up a little and there is warmth added. People like loud and warmish, at least initially. Just a thought.

I am going backwards and forwards now as well and it's the same, I can not find a difference now between stock player.
I think gonemad might use the same signal path as the stock player.

Interesting. It would take more testing, but I wonder if there really is any differences and whether or not these could be reliably detected in blind listening tests?
