What do you guys use to get music these days? Morpheus is limited @ 128. Bleh!

I haven't gotten ONE file from winMX. Not ONE. Stupid queues, etc.

Help!

I use amazon and half.com (to buy cds that is) . I don't bother with mp3 anymore, it used to be good but now too many idiots are making poorly encoded music.

I buy my CDs based on the MP3s I download.... I generally don't buy anything without checking it out first.

Agreed w/ Mumrik. If I like what I hear on mp3, then I buy the CD. Oh, and I use Morpheus.

I sometimes use Audiogalaxy. not too happy with the way it works tho, but it works. slow connection is a pain in the axe as well..

Morpheus is the perfect sharing program - if only you could download true audio. Bearshare is great for this, but much slower and lacks on features and ease-of-use (although i like the fact that you can search for different things at the same time)

Well, I figured out that I need to forward the right winMX ports. I'm using winMX and trippyMX(for servers), and this ROCKS! 320 mp3s! This is pretty cool . . .

btw, when did morpheus go to 128 mp3s? I thought that was only kazaa?

Both are Fast Track based... Perhaps that's it...

There are some 160 and 192 mp3s but they are rare and a never identified as such in a search.

Except for the graphics, the startup page and the lack of spyware in Morpheus, I never really saw any difference between the two.

I guess nobody has heard of Direct Connect.

Well if you are interested in downloading some MPCs then get DC here: http://www.neo-modus.com/ and then connect to this hub: aquaudio.yi.org

It's a small community of people but most of the content is high quality.

BTW, I used to use IRC, Morpheus, Napster, Gnutella, etc. (I even remember back when I could just go to a good website and download MP3s). But now the hassle of finding high quality encodes on these services is too much for me.

Actually, I use DirectConnect quite a bit... just not for mp3s. In this case, I join one of the anime hubs and download the first several episodes of a series (or the first part of a movie), to see if it's worth buying. It's been extremely helpful in putting together my anime-to-buy list. I do wish, when you cancelled a transfer, that it would also remove the incomplete file from your hard drive. It's also annoying that you can't download more than one file from a person at a time. But the biggest problem w/ DC is that there is a big memory leak somewhere in it, because after it's been running for a day or so, my computer gets REALLY slow, and I have to reboot. That said, it's still very useful. I've discovered some real gems (like Excel Saga

) that I otherwise would not know about.
