According to member CosmicHolyGhost, iBasso is in the process of making a new flagship DAP to replace the legendary DX100!

"I have just read that ibasso will be releasing a successor of their flagship DX100 mid-2015.... it seems they are competing heads on again? This bodes well for customers who are looking for a reasonably priced flagship DAP!"

"Local head fi forum as a local member went up to the Guangzhou hifi show which ibasso had a booth in. Iems were displayed as well.
So next year, we will see these two companies releasing flagship DAPs at around the same time."

Can't wait for the "DX200" vs FiiO X7 vs Geek Wave XD 128 vs HM-901S vs AK240 showdown!

the ak240 if you think about isnt actually absurd of the cost

the case and carbon fiber back alone cost a small fortune to manufacture.

I appreciate Astell&Kern for making the AK240 in terms of raising the bar for what a hi-end DAP can be. This in turn forces other companies to step up their DAP game which is excellent for all of us, but I just don't like the way A&K goes about things, from their questionable pricing schemes to the way they treat their customers etc.

The reason A&K (as of now) has been able to so successfully sell such overpriced (imo) DAPs is because there really hasn't been any serious competition for them. As far as I know, no other company has made a DAP with as excellent a combination of SQ, Industrial Design, Build Quality, UI, Storage Capacity etc. as the AK240.

I really hope this changes soon with the upcoming releases from Light Harmonic, iBasso, etc. (Maybe even Sony in the future with a ZX2?) so that we can all enjoy higher quality DAPs at a lower, more reasonable price.

now ibasso is back with a successor to the dx100(which I don't have) I'm very interested in what they come out and will be saving up for it because I loved the dx90 :sunglasses:

I see that you have quite the collection of mid-fi IEMs.
I'm guessing that now you plan to get a totl DAP there's bound to be some totl CIEM action in your near future?
