Best bang for the buck headphone?

Fiio e7 would be an ideal choice. Low impedance and great measurements, so totally linear response and clean bass. If you go with the E7, definitely try to get the 80 ohm 770.

Sorry for the stupid question but are the Fiio e7 and the Fiio E07K the same thing? Amazon has both for ~$90 but I assume the E07K is just an updated version since they have a very limited number and someone is even selling one as a closeout item. So if there is a difference which should I go for? Thanks and again sorry probably a dumb question but I have just started getting into this kind of stuff :D.

Yes, the E7k is the updated version. I don't know what they updated on it though - it was already excellent as it was. Maybe they added some output or input, I really don't know.

The biggest thing about it is that the E7k will work with the E9k, but not with the E9 (and vice versa).

Okay thanks for the info and the link. I have another question about line out vs 3.5mm jack on my iphone. Will this bypass the iphone amp? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005EV38AE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A19UWB7L0RHHLP

It says line out but still connects to the 3.5mm jack instead of the 30 pin.

Another vote for the HFI 580. Great once you get used to the highs. Good luck

No, and AFAIK it's not possible to bypass it at all.

Um, isn't that how things like the Verza work? USB-out bypasses the internal amp/DAC?

Yeah I know for a fact that you can bypass the iphones amp because I am doing it right now with my hd650's and schiit vali using the fiio l9 but I have and iphone 5c which obviously doesn't use the old 30 pin connecter so I had to get an adapter from lightning to 30 pin to be able to use the l9. I' just wondering if the fiio l8 will bypass it? If it will it will save me some money since I don't need the 30 pin to lightning adapter and can just use it as 3.5mm to 3.5mm.

Ahhh, no, the 3.5mm is just going to work as an aux out. Gotta use the 30-pin.

If you like your bass get the WS99 it meets all your requirements, only the impedence is 37 ohm.....

I just checked your profile and after looking at the first SIX PAGES of posts all you've been doing is jumping into threads talking about the WS99, yapping about it in the Beats threads, the X1 threads, Fiio threads, Basshead Lounge, the list goes on. Good god, dude, give it a rest, and stop infecting every possible thread with them.

Have to say I am kind of interested in these (ath-ws99) but there aren't a ton of reviews on them. Anyone have experience with them? So right now I am having a hard time deciding between the ath-m50x, dt770 pro 80 ohms, and maybe the ath-ws99's now. Also, are the earpads on the ath-ws99's replaceable? If so could someone tell me where I can find velour pads that will fit them? I looked but couldn't find any specifically for them.
