You know, I got to hear the E10 (don't recall if it was the E10K or not) at one of the meets, and I was pretty impressed! Really nice sound for the money. I think Ben had it, and he was pretty enthusiastic about it. I bet you'll like it!!

If anyone is interested in a budget Stereo receiver (Onkyo TX-8255), let me know.  It has a phono input stage and is practically brand new.

I was using it with my turntable...makes a great receiver for a secondary stereo setup.

I need to move it, but would really like to find someone local since I don't want to ship something so heavy.

I'm also selling my HRT MSII, but will be throwing that one up on the FS forums since shipping will be cheap.

You can throw up a F/S thread that stipulates a local sale, and if that doesn't work, bring it to the meet and see if somebody likes it there. Haven't heard the Onkyo stereo receivers (have an old AV receiver of theirs), they pretty good?

Awesome! There seems to be a pretty positive public opinion of it, and of Fiio products in general. If it wasn't the E10K you heard, then it can only be better than the original (at least I would think so since they upgraded the chipset).

Cool, it looks like it'll do the same for me.

Yep, it's just a nice, solid receiver.  No bells or whistles.

Pretty much the perfect option for me at the time when I was looking for a solid but affordable entry into the vinyl game.

Now I've got my vinyl rig hooked up in the living room with our home entertainment system (surround sound), so a stereo receiver doesn't work.  Actually a decrease in sound quality, but now I've successfully made the TT a focal point of our house.  My 4 year-old is obsessed with it.

Hook 'em early! I remember playing a bunch of my mom's records on a little Magnavox all-in-one system when I was little and loving it. Don't know what you have for a AV system, but have you looked at maybe getting a separate phono stage and running it into an input on your system? I'm guessing most HT receivers don't put a lot of time or love into their built-in phono stages...

Yeah, I run it through this:  http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=phonoboxusbv

It's a fine box, but not an audible upgrade over the built-in phono stage of the Onkyo.  I think a lot of what you're paying for is the usb hookup to digitize your records.  I've converted a few records with decent results, but quickly realized the process just isn't for me.  To do it properly, you really need to spend a couple hundred on software and take hours for each record to really get it sounding right.

I'll probably sell off the pro-ject box and give the new phono stage from Schiit a try one of these days.

Ah, gotcha. I've heard mixed things about the phono stages made to convert to USB, but I've heard pretty good stuff about Pro-ject in general. Of course, if you ended up finding a phono stage you really liked, you could probably pick up a decent ADC later for not a ton of cash and know that the sound you're feeding it is what you want. Haven't done any vinyl rips myself (yet), but I hope it doesn't require quite that much time or money, as I really do want to rip quite a few albums at some point.

As far as the Schiit phono goes, I'm just stoked that they have one at this point. If you do end up snagging one, let me know what you think-- I've got a pretty decent phono stage, but when I get around to actually setting up my TT again, I'll probably look at changing it out for something else (as I have a much better idea what my sonic priorities and preferences are now than when I bought it 3-4 years ago).

If you're not picky, it can be done in an hour or two by using default settings.

If you ARE picky, then it can take a very very long time.

Audacity is good for the initial rip, and I fell in love with this software for noise and click reduction (http://www.clickrepair.net/)

But, my first rip took app. 3 hours and I know I didn't even scratch the surface of what's possible.  And, when the free trial expired, I couldn't quite bring myself to shell out $150 or whatever it costs to buy the software.  For me, vinyl is all about relaxing and listening.  The ripping aspect of it made it too stressful and sucked some of the fun out of it for me.

Hey All,

Just spoke to Trevor at Norne and we will be demoing at the upcoming Meet and he asked if you all had any requests for sample cables. He has a new high volume OCC Silver and Cable Litz for Audeze Cans and off course the new Solv Line. Please make your requests soon, plus I will have discount coupons like last year!

I totally agree vinyl rips can suck the life out of you.  It seemed to me after a while I was trying to turn into a recording engineer and that was no fun at all.
I just listen to vinyl now, love to hear your take on the Schiit phono stage.

Speaking of having fun with vinyl...those Led Zeppelin remasters are VERY well done.  This is how I spent a large part of my day off today.

Sorry for the poor quality, but maybe this will help convince Theo to get back in the vinyl game.

Also featured in the video are my pet parrot, Mango, on vocals (background screaming), and my two dogs on percussion (nails clacking on the hardwood floor).

And yes...speaker stands are very high on the priority list.
