Has anyone tried pad rolling on the Odin? If so what were the results?

Ithilienrp tried.

Of memory, more bass and better extension in the sub-bass with the Kennerton unperforated pads, but also with a less good aeration and also a less good overall tonal balance.

Kennerton Odin drivers and the FR of the Odin are very sensitive to the chosen of the earpads.

I did on the Mk1 with Kennerton's ECL-02 (black) pads and ZMF cowhide pads. Both make Odin more aggressive and bass-heavy. ZMF the more of the two.

It is, like Eric said, though, tonally less pleasing, especially in the mid, which lloss its magic entirely. (The mid is still there and not recess, but somehow lost its tonal magic).

I have yet to try pad-rolling Mk2. Since I have 2 pairs, I might try rolling one with ZMF Ori pads, ZMF cowhide pads, Dekoni pads for Fostex, Lawton pads.... (that's probably all I have lying around that would fit the Odin -- Beyerdynamic pads might fit but would be more difficult than others due to smaller lip).

Will report back once I do.

I found the link of Ithilienrp about the ear pads rolling for the Odin: http://www.head-fi.org/t/732814/new...es-amps-from-fischer-at-ifa/570#post_12554808

Well I finally bought the Odin in Zebrano.

Hopfully the grain turns out like that. It looks gorgeous.

I will pad roll to see how things go.

Wow! congratulations gbeast for this order.
They are beautiful !
Warning !   50-100 hours burn-in are essential.
Good waiting; Not too long, I hope ...

Happy English people: new commercial site for Kennerton (.uk)
http://kennerton.co.uk/odin-kennerton/

Odin Zebrano

With a new presentation of the FR of the Kennerton Odin: 30 Hz - 16 KHz at approximately -6 / +2 dB!
(NB : 40 Hz at -2 dB only ; 50 Hz, 200 Hz and 1000 Hz at 0 dB)

EDIT: Curious, on this English site of the Kennerton Odin (above), under the heading "Reviews" of the Odin (http://kennerton.co.uk/odin-kennerton/), they have well thought to give the link of the last review of the Odin made by gbeast on earphiles.org http://earphiles.org/2017/04/kennerton-odin-review/, but they seem to have forgotten the very complete review of the Odin made by earfonia on Head-Fi in Singapore https://www.head-fi.org/f/showcase/kennerton-odin.21886/reviews#review-17108 ; An oversight or omission that I correct here.

Oh oh, apparently a new Kennerton Magister? Magister PRO!

http://kennerton.co.uk/products/

EDIT: ears cups design seem different: new wood with a new cut, flatter (less curved), more modern, more Pro !
And the sound ?

I noticed this review video in YouTube a while ago, but never found this headphone anywhere. The review is in Russian, though, so I don't understand a thing about it.

About the new wood, I have no idea what wood it is just by the look. It looks a good visual match for their praetor stand in natural wood finish, though.
Good that they started showing up on websites.

The only thing I really think Kennerton has to fix is the plastic hinge part. I had mine broken (cracked) and deteriorated (rubberized surface became sticky -- I live in hot & humid country so it might be quite a bit worse than many of you).

The AKG K550's rubberized plastic surface had the same problem. I could even stick something to its surface temporarily without any glue. The Fischer Audio Con Amore surface started having the same problem as well. At some point, I have to "rub off" the surface.

Aluminum should be best, I guess. (Woods would be lovely, though :p )
