FiiO X3 & X5 USB Drivers (for Windows only)
Jul 18, 2015 at 1:43 PM Post #19 of 76
The "FiiO X3 & X5 USB Drivers" can also be used with the Fiio X3 2nd generation.

You only need to replace a few line in the "TUSBAudio.inf" and "TUSBAudioks.inf" files which are in the setup folder.

Under the [Models] section in both ".inf" files replace:

[_Models]
"FiiO X3"=_Install, USB\VID_2972&PID_0001
"FiiO X5"=_Install, USB\VID_2972&PID_0005

[_Models.ntamd64]
"FiiO X3"=_Install, USB\VID_2972&PID_0001
"FiiO X5"=_Install, USB\VID_2972&PID_0005

With

[_Models]
"XMOS XS1-L1"=_Install, USB\VID_20B1&PID_0001
"XMOS XS1-L1"=_Install, USB\VID_20B1&PID_0002
"XMOS XKC-SU1"=_Install, USB\VID_20B1&PID_0008

I've been using the first gen X3 as a USB DAC on Windows 8.1 for a while now. After the Windows 10 upgrade it has stopped working.

So I disabled the 'Install Driver without Signature' setting and tried to install the driver again, but could not, since the device was not recognized during driver installation. The X3 lights up for a second when its plugged in, and switches off immediately during installation

Please help!

I had the same problem this morning after upgrading to Windows 10 last night. In my case, this solved the problem: uninstalling the driver, disabling driver signature verification in Windows, restarting, and re-installing the driver.

My x3 was also shutting down while plugged in via usb, but I found that forcing it to turn on and then re-running the driver installation worked.

I'm having issues with my X5 in windows 8.1

It was working well as a USB DAC a few months ago after initial installation.

I tried to use it again for the first time in a while today. When I change the USB mode to DAC and plug it in, the DAC screen (with the sound wave image) appears briefly then disappears. It does not work as a DAC.

I have tried reinstalling the driver and am getting the same errors as others.

I have tried rebooting following the referenced tutorials to disable driver signatures, but each time I try to reset in advanced mode, my computer hangs.

I am stuck. Does anyone have any ideas to help??

Cheers!

  Hi, Scottyj11
It seems weird as the usb mode works well. Would you pls uninstall the x5 dac driver, then disable driver signatures? BTW, it will be great to change another pc to test if possible.

I have tried using the X5 as a DAC at work as well. It is also not working! Could it be a firmware issue, or something else?

Trying to install the DAC driver I keep getting the following error:

"ERROR: Pre-installation of 'C:\Program Files\Thesycon\TUSBAudio_Driver\tusbaudiok...
Please run setup again!

========================
Installation Failed.

Please help!

I connected a USB cable to my X3, checked that it was communicating with my desktop computer
(running XP/SP3 - nothing has convinced me to downgrade to a newer OS) and everything looked fine.

I unzipped the files and ran setup but  the USB driver refused to load, with this error every time I tried:
"Setup requires that the device is plugged in. Please connect the device you want to install and make sure
it is turned on. If your device is currently connected, please unplug and replug it."

What might be the problem?

Thanx
MS

I have the FiiO X3 2nd Gen. The installation went fine and everything works using ASIO in JRiver, but I can't see the audio device in Windows and the FiiO USB Audio Class 2.0 DAC driver has an error saying there's no available driver to install.
