Got mine - been listening this afternoon.  I'm a bit like sfwalcer - surprised, especially by the mid-range, which is pretty good at this price point.  More later.

yeppp yeppp the mids on these are nicely forward and surprisingly pretty lush. A bit splashy and thin (in some areas) but it's good mids is what surprised me the most tbh.

But these got BASS so be warned, cuz they don't call these twinWOOFERs for nothin' ya' know.

Bass quality is pretty decent, even goes pretty deep into the sub bass regions.

So bass is intrusive and bleeds into the other regions but not THAT much.

Separation/ staging is pretty decent as well, despite DAT BASS!!!

Haven't change the tips yet but man... I am indeed blown. I wasn't expecting this great either. I think it will compare well against the RockJaw AF but I have not been listening to the AF for quite sometime now.

Try a little bit of EQ (ie take some of the sub-bass *especially* out, and maybe a smidge of the mid-bass)

Surprising what they can do.

Forget the "burning in" - my observations were "out of the box"

Advice:

  • Try wearing them for a couple of hours at least - without switching to other headphones - so your brain can get used to the new signature.
  • Try listening to a wide range of genres so that you get an appreciation for what they can / can't do
  • Try tip rolling to get best fit and sound combo for you
  • Try a little EQ

I agree with you that there is way too much sub-bass for my personal preference, and a little too much mid-bass also.  But there is also a pretty good midrange in there - you just need to coax it into the foreground (EQ) by dialling back the bass a bit.

Anyway - if they aren't for you - and you bought them - return them.  But I'm down to review them for Tekfusion, and in doing so, I'll make sure I give them a fair chance - which means trying them with a wide range of genre, over a reasonable period of time, and looking for both strengths and weaknesses.

While it's not my ideal signature (bass does overpower things quite a bit) - there are some strengths here.

I'm liking them more than expected as well. I haven't used them much because I'm trying to finish up my Enigma review though.

After a full night of burning them in REAL good, the bass seems to have settled down some and with improved transparency. The bass quality is a bit soft for my liking and still bleeds a bit (boomy) into the rest of the sonic spectrum but not as intrusive as my initial brief listening last night.  So in essence if Tekfusion tunes these with a tighter, deeper (sub bass)/ punchier, and faster (mid bass) these would be damn nice not just for their price.

I am hearing quite a bit of potential in these esp. like others have stated in their mid range cuz it does have good lushness/definition/clarity.

Treble and highs can use some more sparkle and extension but i don't hear it's THAT rolled off and it still have good presence so.... overall a good non-sibilant/harsh listen. Though treble clarity/definition is for sure not as good as their mids, cuz i hear some fuzziness and some thinness there. There's a bit of haziness to sound that's for sure, a bit smeared if you will during more intricate passages so instrumental separation could also use some fine tuning.

Am using the wide bore Triple-fi 10 tips btw....

............... will go back to stock to hear what's sup soon. haha

I'm a music lover  - not an audiophile - so I use whatever sounds good

On my iPhone I either use the inbuilt EQ on the Accudio app or the Equaliser app.  X5 just use the EQ.

I'm reading the initial impressions and my brain is translating them to, "I don't want to offend, so these are okay if you do XYZ + ABC. Otherwise, these have bloated bass that overwhelms the rest of the spectrum, passing mids, and lackluster highs. In reality, there are a number of better options near the same price point that sound great before having to making significant adjustments."
Sound about right?

Curious to see if impressions change overtime. I was hoping for more critical analysis, even in the initial impressions. These seem a bit glossed over except for suman's, but his lack any specific examples don't offer much insight. Looks like we'll have to wait for the full-blow reviews.

Nope try again. I am gonna go on the record and say it now. These Twinwoofers reminds me of a poor mans Ostry KC06s, sound pretty damn similar across the spectrum besides the bass quantity/quality. Easy to drive just like those KC06s as well so many similarities there.

And you know i don't gloss ova' nothin'.
wink.gif
I hear what i hear and just report it nothin' mo' nothin' less.

These got potential sonically like i have stated but does it best the likes of the Sony MH1, Tenores, KC06s, VSD1 nope. But with further fine tuning/ improvements these can hang with them.
