And what do you think spatzi 6 minutes is faster than 30 minutes of Fiio'x libraru creation

?

I hear some people creating library in 1:30 minutes, so I am wondering why it takes me six minutes. Either they are exaggerating or their cards are not full.

Perhaps that's when is already craeted and was connected to the PC so it just did a quick rebuild, mine did this when connected after it had the library created once

Sony has put a price on their PHA-1A at 299 USD, same as oppo HA-2 but for that plentiful inuts on the sony  and that pleityful outputs on the sony and it's spectacular battery life. I'll better go with oopo

That's a nice affordable price. Wonder if it's better than PHA-1, although 1 looks better with the black finish.

yes pretty affordable IMO but it lacks analogue IN, henc my sarcasm

thus also lacking line out and well batt is just mere 6h according to sony testing

Good thing about the Sony is when it's not in use for a couple of days thete's still charge in it, unlike Fiio E17 which has all the bells and whistles but drains the battery even when not in use.

I've gotten more isolation from my XBA-H3 and no more itchy feeling, put the hybrids backwards e.g the bore is put into the H3's nozzle so they are reversed

HA-2 IS REALLY BIG!

I love the OPPO HA-2 the only issue I can see is the size.  It is 6.2" long and 2.5" wide which means it is alot bigger than the A17 (4.25" long, 1.75" wide),  Good luck trying to stack the two.  An amp that big defeats the benefit of the compact size of the A17.  Also add to the overall length once you connect the cable between the A17 and the HA-2

Clearly the HA-2 was built with Apple and Samsung Smartphones in mind. Below is a link to a review of the HA-2 and in a paragraph near the bottom they point out potential problems with carrying this amp as a portable device strapped to another device (smartphone or DAP).  If I was looking for an amp to use at home with the A17 then the HA-2 would be perfect.

The numbers just don't make sense.

Okay explain to me the attraction of the Sony PHA1-1A amp vs Fiio E12 or even the E11K

PHA-1-1A - Price $299.99, Maximum Output Approx. 148mW + 148mW (8Ω, 10% distortion) Approx. 80mW + 80mW (32Ω, 1% distortion) Approx. 16.4mW + 16.4mW (300Ω, 10% distortion), Battery life 6H. No signal to noise ratio given. Frequency Response 10-100kHz. (great if you listen to recordings of dog whistles) Dimensions (W x H x D) Approx. 62 x 18.5 x 109 mm

E12 - approx. Price $150.00 Output Power: ≥880mW (32ohm) (440mW + 440mW) Headphone Impedance: 16-300ohm ● THD+N: <0.005%SNR: ≥110dB ● Frequency Response: 20Hz~20kHz ● Battery Capacity: 9.7Wh (880mAh/11.1V) ● Battery Life: >12hours ● Size 124x65.5x14.5(mm) ● Weight: 159g.

E11K - approx. Price $65.00 Output Power: 270mW(32Ω)(135Mw + 135mW, THD: 0.005%@1KHz); 450mW(16Ω, THD: 0.004%@1KHz), Signal to Noise Ratio: >108dB, Battery life >16H, Dimensions: 91.2 x 56 x 13.0 mm

The PHA1-1A is 2x the price of the E12 and almost 5x the price of the E11K.  The PHA1-1A has half the battery life of the E12 and less than half the battery life of the E11K.  Yes you can argue that output power ratings are unreliable at best but come on the PHA1-1A isn't even in the same ballpark as the E12 and even the E11K shows better numbers.  Don't even get me started on the distortion figures.

There is no way you can convince me that the PHA1-1A at $300.00 is going to sound twice as good as the E12 at $150.00 with half the battery life and a lot less power.  Tell me what Sony's engineers are smoking these days because they must have been high on something when they came up with this amp at this price point with these specs. Hey maybe they can sell you some swamp land in Florida when you buy the amp!!

If you have read any reviews of the E11K the reviewers say the E11K is coming very close to the sound quality of the E12 with the power output being the main difference.  Honestly I would buy the E11K at about 1/5th the price before I would sink money into the PHA1-1A.  Heck with the headphones I am using the power output of the E12 would be overkill for me.

To me a $300.00 amp to go with a $300.00 DAP just doesn't make sense proportionally.  It would be like putting $1000.00 rims on a station wagon.  Save the $150.00 and put the money towards some really good headphones which will make alot bigger difference in the sound quality than a more expensive amp.

I just tried out a hi res file and I could not get my equalizer settings to work. Is this normal? Clear bass would not work. None of the equalizer settings would work. When I went back to regular flac and mp3 files, everything worked again.

Guess you didn't read the manual - and yes, it is normal HD files doesn't have EQ. In fact, even by upsampling (*DSEE HS) the SD music to HD, the EQ will stop working. The reason is, to apply EQ to HD files require a lot of processing power and beyond what the SoC is capable of. You have to downsample (under 'Hi-Res Audio Effect') to get EQ to work on HD files.

Sometimes I read the manual and still don't understand. So I just ... Relax ... And enjoy the music

Interested in the comparison of battery life between Fiio and Sony amps. My Graham Sleep Voyager has a claimed battery life of 80 hours ! In reality I don't know how long it lasts. I replace (yes replace its a standard 9v battery cost about £2.50) every 6 months or so.

I had forgotten to post this...

A17 with the 256GB SD card installed! Not using any internal memory at the moment, only the card with my music collection comprised of mostly FLAC files (ripped my CDs with dbPowerAmp and/or Exact Audio Copy), HQ FLACs from HD tracks, mp3s and a couple of WAV files.

Hahahaha broke a piece of the cheapo "case" that most of us have bought from igadgtz (or whatever is called) in order to get the microSD converter inside the case and get the cable out.

Seems to be working no problems. I guess if you move it around too much you might get either the SD card inside the case or the microSD portion disconnected BUT since I use the player at work mostly, it's just sitting untouched! :)

Anyway, great alternative if you are looking for more storage (since those 128gb microSD never seem to go down in price) at a decent price (the 256gb card was LESS than a 128gb microSD and the transfer speeds seem greater to me!)

Thanks.
