SONY NWZ-A10 Series

I think $299 is a smoking deal for a 64gb walkman that can expand up to 192gb via a microsd card.

and  $299 is the list or manufacture suggested retail price,so there is a chance it could be purchased for less on sale.

I paid a total of $340 (including shipping and tax) for my Sony F807 back in September of 2013 because here in the U.S. Sony only offered the F805 and F806 models - and the F806 was $299 for a 32gb player and also only available in black or red, so i thought "why not spend an extra $40 to double the storage space and get the player in the teal/blue color I want?" and so I ordered mine from a Japanese vendor on Amazon and had it in less than 10 days (it actually arrived from Japan in one day then sat in customs in Los Angeles California for five days then the post office took another three to get it to my doorstep in Arizona). The only risk I took was not having a warranty, but as all Sony products I have ever purchased still work to this day that was never a concern.

As for how the A17 will sound compared to an F886 it should be the same or better going by the specs on Sony's site. The one main thing Sony could do to improve the A17 is have a more powerful output. 10mW + 10mW is pretty scant for driving anything other than low impedance headphones + iem's, which is a shame because Sony really do have incredible sound quality.

Its listed on Sony USA's site as $299, so I guess so....

My target is FiiO X1, and then I see this DAP, I'm so excited when see this product. $300 with 64GB built in storage + MicroSD, very long battery life, slim and sleek too...

. I prefer this than DX50 (to big) and X3 (too old, will be replaced by next X3)
I must save more money!

Is there a school of thought that slim lightweight Daps should only, or mainly, be used with IEM's? And Can's are for home hi fi and portable DVD's/home cinema? That's the way I tend to roll anyway. Good old Sonykins then.

i use my Sony daps  (F807 and E345) with nothing but headphones. trick is to use lower impedance cans.anything from 16Ω to 32Ω up to 65Ω can easily be driven to loud volumes by a small Sony dap.i use everything from Sennheiser Amperior to various Grado's to V Moda M80 to Koss PortaPro and they all sound great un-amped. the only cans I find in my collection that require a portable headphone amp are the Beyerdynamic 80Ω DT770's for which I use an iBasso D2+ Boa which provides them more than ample power.

Depends if you mean portable on ear or full-size home headphones. Certainly there is no reason that you cannot use portable on ear with this class device

just gave the demo at star house Hong Kong. Was using a Fidue A83 with 7N occ 8 wire cable.

Initial impression: the sound is clear n neutral (not bright nor warm just neutral), a bit of floor noise not as bad as hidizs ap100. Menu is smooth on a filled 32g sd card. Initial sd card scanning takes a few minutes.

UI gripes:
-Have to mount the sd card in menu in order to view it
-Cannot display some Asian languages or words
-Can format sd on the device and the option is place right next to the mounting and dismounting of sd card
-Cannot view folders on sd card, have to find songs via album, artist, genre but no the folders I stored my music in

There's always something isn't there.

By the way, when the A17 is paired with pha-3, sounds like a dream, the sound is many times better, much warmer, richer, resolving, more body.

My wish from my previous post is just to make noted that such a problem exists and that Sony fixes it before my preordered a15 arrives.
