The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages
Sep 2, 2014 at 4:19 AM Post #124 of 1,083
Just found an article on some korean site, turns out e10k is delayed to mid-late September 2014 due to some issues found within the product
DOH e17 is more than twice as expensive ! Q_Q
the sound sucks so hard with this mobo but i dont want to buy stuff just to replace it with e10k in 2 months

also, i just checked, the shipment from the US to where i live is 130$, totally useless deal

What article is that?? Gosh, is that an isolated case or what?

It is also worth noting that the Korean site was talking out of their a** since E10K was released right on schedule last month.

For the record, I'm not anti or biased to any brand.

both the e10k and e07k seems to have quality control issues, amazon feedbacks from units suddenly buzzing and dying seems common. Maybe the koreans opened the thing up and found the problem? well isn't that a good thing now fiio knows whats wrong.

as for my e07k myself, it has glitches related to the display off timer and battery charging continuously even when the indicator says its full. hope this thing doesn't mutilate itself internally after a few months or I'm not touching another fiio product.

even fiio website support thread, has post related to battery and other glitches related on the e07k and e10k. hope this is fixable via firware update.

Amazon feedbacks? i only saw 11 reviews on e10k, so far so good.
And i believe e10k is only available in US right now, none sighted in Asia. though e11k is coming by the dozens

Amazon feedbacks? Like where? Like arcwindz mentioned, there are 11 reviews on Amazon and most of them are positive.

Where's the fiio website support thread? I'm trying to access it but to no avail: http://www.fiio.com.cn/support/index.aspx

The problem with that theory is that, how was the Korean got to open an E10K up when they don't have one at the time? The first batch was already all shipped to the USA at the time and no one in the U.S. has yet to even report ant serious problem that we know of. No recall was even made either, even James has denied about any of such problem. I am more incline to think that someone in Korea just made up a story out of nothing. Far more believable than a conspiracy theory.

Anyway, let's not focus on some old rumor and actually go back to the E10K discussion.

theres a BOTH word there, and did you read the comments under the reviews? nevermind the 5 star reviews, I to be blunt I dont trust those 5 star reviews. You lived pass the last decade not in a cave, then you should have an idea of how things work now in advertising and marketing. WWW <-- define.

But hey if you got a good unit then good for you, as for me theres a hic on my unit that even fiio themselves have no fix. so thats that, Im just hoping this thing wont crap out in a few months.

Do we have to talk about what might or might not happen a few months form now? If build quality is a concern, there are other brands to choose from and there is no need to stick to FiiO - or just let other take the chance for you and check back in a few months. I am sure any problem will reveal itself by then, if it is there.

If the device has an usb connection and it recognizes the e10k. I will test with a tablet I have and post the results later. About size, it is very small.

As it was mentioned by ClieOS in some previous posts, E10k needs more power than what you get from <0.5A usb connection, thus to make it work with smartphone or a tablet which supports OTG you need to get OTG cable splitter with a separate power feed (to use with external battery, perhaps).  I actually ordered one from ebay, it was a few bucks, and just need to test it out.  Will post my results as well, just never got a chance to get to it with all other reviews I'm writing now...

err the e10k was designed for desktop not smartphones, the thing is bulky to be portable anyway. get the e11k for smartphones or the e18.

I agree, and have both E11k and E18   I was just referring to a question asked in the forum where someone was inquiring about being able to use E10k with a smartphone or a tablet.
