Obscure Chinese DAPs

I use Total Commander for these things, but maybe  you have to give administration's privilege to window's 10 file viewer to see root directory.
Anyway... in the S5 i tried this, i connected it to my computer and in windows 10 file viewer i choose the S5 unit name ( J in my computer, maybe E or F on yours, you have to know it ) and i can see the root directory without permissions. Its where its all .lib archives.

The T6 itself does not have any built in RAM, flashable ROM for the firmware best as I can tell.

Downloaded TC (nice app!) and made sure I have all permissions and view system files enabled with Windows and TC.  Connecting to the T6 through USB makes the T6 show as an attached drive/device but can't figure out how to get to the actual root with or without a microSD card inserted.

When a formatted microSD card is inserted the file programs do show the stored data/files on the card but haven't been able to go up the directory structure to the device root itself.

A little tidbit - the device I have is identified as an AGPtek Rocker in the .inf device naming. Might see AGPtek come out with their version at some point since Benjie OEMs their devices.

It does look like the upcoming AGPteck Rocker is the same device as the Benjie T6.

Here are some links from AGPtek -

It seems to me the same problem of early version of Hidizs AP60!

Hidizs AP60 use  firmware with the same extension and has no internal memory as well: so no root directory exist on the player.

I received a second AP60 from Penon because was not possible to upgrade firmware on the first unit, with the "System Update" command failing to finf the firmware on microsd root directory.

I suppose that the command on the first version of the DAP failed because it was pointing to the internal root directory that doesn't exist, not finding the firmware.

If T6 share the same problem there is nothing to do and you can only ask to have an upgradable version: this can also explain why the player appeared and then disappeared from online shop...

I have an email and WeChat messages out to Benjie so will have to see what they come back with.

I got three early T6 samples and one of them has a noise issue that is likely a hardware defect, but that I wanted to see if a firmware update might resolve. The initial firmware did not allow playback of DSD files and had some more minor issues as well.

I expect Benjie will do an exchange if the firmware cannot be updated to reach the full specs of the product.

AGPtek customizes the firmware of the Benjie OEM product somewhat. Might see how their version(s) work when the Rocker product is released, that is if the firmware can actually be updated by end users.

Hey guys. I am in the market for a cheap dap with good sq. I would like to spend less than $100 and would like:
sd card for 200 gig
gapless
long battery life (as long as possible)
good sq - preferable warm with good bass impact.
Thanks for the suggestions.

The dap with top sound quality, but frustrating UI.

Finally, someone else with that DAP! It sounds good, bot loses to my new pet Cayin N6. I think it's a matter of amplification, it sounds less natural and sometimes I adore that player, but sometimes I cant tell it from my smartphone. Have no idea why it happens.

UI... is absent. I mostly use it as a USB DAC. Have you found English there? 'Cause all I can do is remember those Chinese signes.

I don't know. I only had it for a short time. The sound is really good and the built-in amp is very powerful as a portable player. I think it's good as a USB dac alone.

Had a look at the specs:
2*150mW at 300 ohm headphone load. Max current 800mA. Probably can drive my HD6xx.

Well, it's incredibly powerful. As you can see, I connect it to my orthodynamics and it works just fine. But no one have made measurements. I don't have an amplifier to check if it sounds much better when signal from LO is used. I'm almost sure there is a little noise in the high frequences and bass is decreased somehow, but there is nothing to compare to. I mean, it's like Cayin i5 but better in terms of sound quality.
And yes, it's great when used as a DAC.
